This musician or band only did the song for a soundtrack, and it never appeared on any other studio album (other than compilations).

Tom Petty's "Walls" and Seether's "Broken" are two that I like.

The Bangles - Get The Girl (only on Austin Powers 2, The Spy Shagged Me Soundtrack)

Very garagey....bought the CD just for it. I wish they had done a lot more stuff like this over the years instead of the Manic/Egyptian/Eternal Lame crap.

Does "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" count?

I agree with "A View To A Kill". The other 80's soundtrack song that pops into my mind is "On The Dark Side".

I also liked the two Smashing Pumpkins "Batman & Robin" songs.

I wouldn't count it since Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid is considered a Bob Dylan album.

His Hearts Of Fire songs on the other hand.............
(I never bought the CD back then because I thought it was crap, and it now goes over $100)

I'm Not There (the song) may count too.....the movie soundtrack was it's 1st official release (I believe)

This one kills me...I've been trying to find it for a long time and apparently I missed the "Ten Years Of Harmony" set when it was still reasonably priced.

For me, the all-time champ here is "Call Me" by Blondie, which Walter mentioned on his most excellent list. I like a lot of those IP mentioned, too, as well as most Bond themes and "FM." Some additional soundtrack songs I consider favorites are:
Be There - Pointer Sisters
Shakedown - Bob Seger
The Best Man in the World - Ann Wilson
Romance - Paul Carrack & Terri Nunn
If You Ever Did Believe - Stevie Nicks & Sheryl Crow
Old Habits Die Hard - Mick Jagger, Sheryl Crow and Dave Stewart
To Live & Die in L.A. - Wang Chung
It's Probably Me - Sting & Eric Clapton
Never Be You - Rosanne Cash
Johnny & Mary - Tina Turner
So Far So Good - Sheena Easton
Dreams to Dream - Linda Ronstadt
The Crying Game - Boy George
Never Surrender - Don Felder
I Won't Say I'm in Love - Belinda Carlisle
Underground - David Bowie
Sharpshooter - Laura Branigan
Bad Love - Cher
In All the Right Places - Lisa Stansfield (the arrangement of the original version from "Indecent Proposal" buries the rerecorded version that appears on "So Natural")

"Respect the Wind" on the Twister soundtrack - credited to the Van Halen bros. This instrumental tune runs under the end credits. Not a huge Eddie fan but some great playing here.
