Damn! I already ordered this box set from my friend at Rhino and I'm getting it for Christmas. Now I see the individual releases are coming out all with the bonus tracks on Jan. 22.

I just watched the DVD from the box and it is great - stereo, 5.1 and DTS sound and a documentary. The box is the better deal if you intend to get all the albums.

yep, if your getting all the remasters anyway, then the box is the one to get.

...especially at the intro prices at places like CD Universe. Easy decision. My only complaint about the box is the way the discs are stored. Fortunately the paper sleeves like the ones in mini LP releases fit beautifully.

I love the box and having 20 songs in 5.1 on the dvd makes it a great purchase....

Exactly what I was thinking Dave! I'd rather have that than the box. Oh well, at least I got it at cost but I would've really preferred the individual releases.

Definitely but the low price and fantastic DVD made it an easy choice for me. I had to save some $$ for other items.

One way or another I think people will be impressed by the reissues.

I bought the box. I figure the box is the first official release of the previously unreleased stuff. Even though the thought of better booklets, et cetera appeals to me, I probably wouldn't buy the individual remasters. The only ones I would even begin to possibly consider would be the first 3 LPs and the Honeydrippers EP -- since those came out before the dawn of the CD (correct me if I'm wrong). Those are the ones I still have on vinyl. (Well, ... and now on CD with the box).

I watched about half of the DVD so far. Kind of fun watching the old videos. Some a bit strange, but what charisma! He never lacked in that department.

One thing with the box set that struck me as odd: unless I'm missing them, I couldn't find any songwriter credits anywhere!

I'm a completist when it comes to Robert Plant/Led Zeppelin, so I'll probably track down the remasters when they're issued singly...one day!

I sent back my unopened boxset and got all the stand alone remasters which all look great. Luckily my friend at Rhino wasn't mad and completely understood. I hated losing the DVD, but the boxset setup of the packaging for the individual CDs I heard wasn't so hot and I much prefer stand alones anyway.

For any IMWAN'ers who have the box set -- how are the liner notes? I picked up the individual release of Plant's first solo album (and will probably get THE HONEYDRIPPERS this week), but I was sorely disappointed by the lack of substantial liner notes -- far below Rhino's usual high standard in this department!

The booklet and liner notes were excellent in the box set. They discussed each album in detail. What are the liner notes like with the individual CD's? I assumed they would take the liner notes and seperate them out to the appropriate CD's.

While there is songwriter/original release information, the liner notes are sorely lacking in the individual releases -- I've only picked up PICTURES AT ELEVEN and THE HONEYDRIPPERS, but both merely feature short (and I do mean short) 2-page essays by Ed Vulliamy. I take it the box set has more detailed notes for each album? While the Inglot/Hersch-mastered sound is terrific, I can't help but think the overall package falls below the usual Rhino mark!

That may be the case, but remember that these releases were barebones when they first came out, so anything is more than you got back in the day. The Honeydrippers didn't even have credits, so nobody knew who was a part of the project, other than Plant, until info started leaking out.
