Kate Nash has blogged about starting work on her new album.
The singer-songwriter says she's currently in Los Angeles meeting prospective producers for the record.
Writing on her MySpace.com/katenashmusic blog, Nash revealed that after eight months off, she's now finally ready to begin work on the follow up to 2007's 'Made Of Bricks'.
"I've been meeting some producers out here about doing my next record. It's pretty exciting because I haven't really been ready to talk about any of that stuff for ages, I really haven't wanted to," she wrote.
"I've wanted to hang out and watch Jeremy Kyle and see my friends and go to the cinema and clean out my fish tank and pass my driving test. But I finally feel ready to start getting stuck into thinking about how to stick these songs together that I've been working on for the past eight months. I feel like the songs are stamps and I need to get someone to lick the back of the stamps and put them in the right place on the envelope."
Nash also added that her trip has given her the chance to catch up with boyfriend Ryan Jarman, along with his band The Cribs.
"Good timing too because The Cribs are also in LA and I bet you can't wait to hear their new album, it's going to make you so happy," Nash wrote.
Kate Nash has entered the studio with former Suede man Bernard Butler on production duties to record her second album.
The London singer/songwriter has begun work at RAK studios, working on eight new songs in total so far, reports The Fly.
"I had about 15 demos before I went in," Nash explained. "I met Bernard because of Ryan [Jarman of The Cribs and Nash's boyfriend]."
The album is expected to be released in early next year with songs in contention for inclusion including 'Pick Pocket', 'I Hate Seagulls', 'You Were So Far Away', 'Doo Wah Do' and 'Don't You Want To Share The Guilt'.
Speaking about the direction the songs on the album are taking, Nash said: "There's lots of nice guitars, and a really nice grand piano."
Kate Nash has revealed how her forthcoming second album was influenced by her dislike of seagulls and groupies.
The London singer/songwriter has completed the album with producer (and former Suede guitarist) Bernard Butler, with its release set to be within the next few months.
Nash told NME.COM that one song, 'I Hate Seagulls', was inspired by her current relationship - which she sees in contrast to her pet hates.
"I had never been in a serious relationship before – it changes a lot of things," explained the musician – who is dating The Cribs' Ryan Jarman. "It's like [on the song], 'I hate seagulls, I hate groupies and I hate being sick'. Sometimes there are things where you’re like, 'Fucking hell, I hate all this bullshit.' Then there’s someone who you love… that’s the reason you're alright."
Other songs set for the album have the working titles 'Doo Wa Do', 'Paris', 'Kiss That Girl' and 'Don't You Wanna Share The Guilt'.
Kate Nash has announced the release date and tracklisting of her second album, plus details of a free download.
The as-yet-untitled album will be released on April 19. It will feature 12 songs, including opener 'You'll Never Listen', 'Kiss That Girl', 'Later On' and 'Pickpocket'.
From tonight (February 11) a song from the album, 'I Just Love You More', is available to download free from her official website, http://www.katenash.co.uk.
The album was produced by former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. Its first single will be 'Doo Wah Doo', set for release on April 12.
