Product Description
From the first lines of the ebullient opener "Paris," taken from Kate Nash's second album, it is apparent that Miss Nash has made the transition from bedroom blogger and ingenue to young woman on a mission. The song and the album are all at once classic Nash but it is quite clear that though the redhead still smells like teen spirit, now there are definite and fragrant top notes of the woman she is growing into.

Kate writes her own songs - she plays piano, guitar, bass, drums - and producer Bernard Butler found a way of bringing the songs to life without losing any of her idiosyncratic personality. The result; an album that is eclectic, adventurous, and honest.

There's the 60s girl group influence of "Kiss That Grrrl" (and more self-mocking paranoia: 'She's instantly more pretty and interesting than me') and the gentle beauty of the folksy "You Were So Far Away." There are minimalist lyrics on both the raw punk of "I've Got A Secret," and "I Just Love You More." Set against Sonic Youth feedback, Kate sings 'I just love you more than anything' between expressive yelps; by the end, she is breathless.

Kate's debut album, Made of Bricks, was about wanting to be in love; Kate's new effort is about trust, sexism, homophobia, honesty - and how being in a serious relationship has made her feel less selfish and more grown-up. 'I don't want to be gushy and weird about it, but I am in love! I don't worry about making myself too vulnerable: I always write with my heart on my sleeve. If you don't then you're not living.'

The final track, "I Hate Seagulls," is about 'admitting you're in love with someone'. It's a stream-of-consciousness list of what she hates (seagulls; being sick; burning her finger on the toaster; nits) and what she likes (cream teas, reading, 'your hand in mine'). 'It's basically saying that I hate all this crap life throws at you, but it's okay because I love somebody and they love me back.'

With a second album of which she is rightly proud - 'nothing was rushed; I've developed as a writer' - does Kate still feel like an outsider? 'I will probably always feel like an outsider because I don't fit the format of a female artist. But I'm not worried about it. No way. I've always done things my own way and, for that reason alone, I'm happy.'

2. Kiss That Grrrl

Kate Nash has recorded "14 to 16" demos of songs for her forthcoming second album.

The 'Foundations' singer says the new material is different sounding to her debut, 2007's 'Made Of Bricks'.

"I've got about 14 to 16 songs recorded and I'm going to do another session at the end of the month," she explained to BBC Newsbeat.

"It's really cool. I've been doing a lot of writing and I'm excited about getting stuck into new material.

"It's different and it's fun to be doing something new."

Nash previewed two new songs - 'I Hate Seagulls' and 'Froggy' - at her Matter gig in London last October.

Kate Nash begins work on new album
Singer is meeting producers in Los Angeles

Kate Nash has blogged about starting work on her new album.

The singer-songwriter says she's currently in Los Angeles meeting prospective producers for the record.

Writing on her MySpace.com/katenashmusic blog, Nash revealed that after eight months off, she's now finally ready to begin work on the follow up to 2007's 'Made Of Bricks'.

"I've been meeting some producers out here about doing my next record. It's pretty exciting because I haven't really been ready to talk about any of that stuff for ages, I really haven't wanted to," she wrote.

"I've wanted to hang out and watch Jeremy Kyle and see my friends and go to the cinema and clean out my fish tank and pass my driving test. But I finally feel ready to start getting stuck into thinking about how to stick these songs together that I've been working on for the past eight months. I feel like the songs are stamps and I need to get someone to lick the back of the stamps and put them in the right place on the envelope."

Nash also added that her trip has given her the chance to catch up with boyfriend Ryan Jarman, along with his band The Cribs.

"Good timing too because The Cribs are also in LA and I bet you can't wait to hear their new album, it's going to make you so happy," Nash wrote.

Kate Nash has entered the studio with former Suede man Bernard Butler on production duties to record her second album.

The London singer/songwriter has begun work at RAK studios, working on eight new songs in total so far, reports The Fly.

"I had about 15 demos before I went in," Nash explained. "I met Bernard because of Ryan [Jarman of The Cribs and Nash's boyfriend]."

The album is expected to be released in early next year with songs in contention for inclusion including 'Pick Pocket', 'I Hate Seagulls', 'You Were So Far Away', 'Doo Wah Do' and 'Don't You Want To Share The Guilt'.

Speaking about the direction the songs on the album are taking, Nash said: "There's lots of nice guitars, and a really nice grand piano."

Butler did some nice work with Duffy.
I'm looking forward to hearing his work with Nash.

Kate Nash reveals seagull and groupie influence on new album
London singer/songwriter set to release second effort in 2010

Kate Nash has revealed how her forthcoming second album was influenced by her dislike of seagulls and groupies.

The London singer/songwriter has completed the album with producer (and former Suede guitarist) Bernard Butler, with its release set to be within the next few months.

Nash told NME.COM that one song, 'I Hate Seagulls', was inspired by her current relationship - which she sees in contrast to her pet hates.

"I had never been in a serious relationship before – it changes a lot of things," explained the musician – who is dating The Cribs' Ryan Jarman. "It's like [on the song], 'I hate seagulls, I hate groupies and I hate being sick'. Sometimes there are things where you’re like, 'Fucking hell, I hate all this bullshit.' Then there’s someone who you love… that’s the reason you're alright."

Other songs set for the album have the working titles 'Doo Wa Do', 'Paris', 'Kiss That Girl' and 'Don't You Wanna Share The Guilt'.
