Back in the "Day", the TV networks used to have a theme for each season. The one I remember best is ABC's "Still the One" from (I believe) their '77 and possibly '78 season.

Much like I was a DC kid, I was also a product of the shows on ABC in the mid- to late- 70s.

Happy Days
Welcome Back Kotter
Love Boat
Fantasy Island
Charlie's Angels
Soap
Benson

So many shows that I followed. I also followed their nightly news.

Aside from the relative entertainment value (for a kid my age at the time) of the shows, I was also in an area where the best channels I could pick up where ABC and NBC.

I did start getting into NBC with "Different Strokes" and "Facts of Life" (that Tootie sure was a cutie.)

When we did start getting CBS, I would watch "M*A*S*H", "All in the Family" and "The Jeffersons".

When we moved to Gainesville in the mid-80s, the only local network station we had was an ABC affiliate. We've since acquired other networks (Fox, CBS and UPN), but the ABC is still the only one with a local news channel.

How 'bout ya'll? Do you find yourself mostly watching shows from one particular network?

Here in St. Louis the brand loyalty to channel 5 (NBC) is incredibly strong. So much so, that there's an expression among the other networks that gets repeated every time the 'St. Louis Post Dispatch' does an article about sweeps month.
--"Channel 5 could put on static and a test pattern 24 hours a day and still walk away with half the market."

My own viewing habits tend to be migratory. I watch a lot of one network for a few years, then it gets boring, I stop watching, and I find a new network to start the cycle over again. If I cared enough I'ld do some research and probably find a bunch of behind the scenes people I'm following around. You know like writers, producers, executives who share some common taste with me.

In my youth, I didn't really have an overall allegiance to one network, but there were evenings when the channel-selector stayed in position.

Fridays 1970-ish ( ABC ) - Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Nanny and the Professor, something else, then Love American Style.

Saturdays later in the 70's (CBS) The All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Bob Newhart, The Carol Burnett Show.

For a while on Thursdays in the mid-70's you could see ( on ABC ) Welcome Back Kotter ... something else ... then Barney Miller. ( I found a Barney Miller DVD that came with a box of God-awful maple-flavored cereal a year ago ... and like a little kid mesmerized by the toy, I bought it. Two good episodes. )

Around the same time-period, Tuesdays had (ABC) Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Three's Company, and Taxi ( I loved Taxi! ) ... then Starsky and Hutch maybe?

I seemed to leave the channel-selector on CBS on Mondays in the late 70's ... M*A*S*H, WRKP in Cincinatti, Lou Grant.

Late 70's Fridays were CBS - Dukes of Hazzard and my parents watched Dallas.

Mid 80's, I watched NBC on Thursdays - The Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, and Night Court. ( I've never watched Hill Street Blues which followed. )

At 10:00, I usually watched whatever was on PBS - Monty Python's Flying Circus, Dr. Who, Dad's Army, Father Dear Father, ( ... The Goodies were on Saturday. ) On Saturdays, they'd run Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits as well. During one summer, they ran old SF films on Fridays ( The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Forbidden Planet ).

For a long time, my Saturday evenings (10:30 p.m.) were spent watching a locally hosted Creature Feature show on our NBC station. A local guy made up like a zombie would host shows like King Kong, all of the Godzilla movies, Day of the Triffids, etc. One Saturday, I sat perched in my room waiting to see what would be on that evening's movie, and a bunch of idiots were on live from New York ... taking over the time slot to this day.

In recent years, I've found myself watching nearly everything on the WB. The loss of Buffy, Angel and Roswell means I've cut way back, but I still watch Everwood, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Smallville, and Jack & Bobby.

The Circa-1986 NBC Thursday Jim describes above was an incredible powerhouse, especially after HSB gave way to LA Law, although that sitcom block may have been broken up by then.

I'm on again off again with TV. It was on constantly in the background while I was growing up. But I only really remember Saturdays and Sundays as days that I looked forward too, cartoons and creature features. Channel 50 out of Detroit on our cable box had the best stuff. I forget what stations ran which cartoons but I was glued to any superhero stuff on Saturdays. Lest I forget Battle of the Planets, Starblazers and Robotech also attracted me.
Is it me or did every market in america have a creature feature?? Isn't it a little bit strange that they would be called that so uniformly across the country??
Anyway Sam Rami and Jos Wheadon kept me tuned in for a long time but both are long gone. So now I don't watch it anymore.

It's Alex Toth. Check out the desk top thread, I have more posted there. I love his work it's simple and clean like Disney with just enough Wally Wood to make it real and warm. I just looked for the link to tothworld but I couldn't find it. If you google him it should pop up. It's definately worth a look.

In that case what can I say?? I need friends and If they like Wally Wood, then so much the better.
Just an attempt to stay on topic does anyone remember the live action series that ran alongside Bigfoot and Wild Boy on Saturdays. Their was a short that had as it's premise a dystopia in which teenagers righted wrongs in a 16 wheeled futuristic mobile home, with Robby the Robot. Does anyone remember this but me?? I've been trying to remeber it's name for years now, please help??

That would be Ark II. Robby the Robot was only a guest star (as was Helen Hunt! yum!), but they had a talking chimp named Adam.

And as any fan of Silver Age DC will tell you, talking monkeys rock.

I am an ABC devotee. I love ABC sitcoms, and most of the time, I don't find NBC or CBS sitcoms even remotely amusing.

I recently saw a Tylenol ad with Khrystyne Haje (Simone, the redhead, one of People Magazine's 50 most beautiful people of 1990). She's still dreamy.

Looks like she's done a few episodes of L&O in the last few years, too.

As for the others, I don't care. For me, it was all about Simone.

With the demise of Friends, there are only two sitcoms left I can stand to watch: Arrested Development and Scrubs. Every other sitcom left seems to be a variation* on "Fat guy with wife way too hot for him."

Heck, even the Simpsons fits that mold.

*some variants:
Dead guy with wife too hot for him (8SR)
Wiseass black guy with wife too hot for him (Bernie Mac & MW&K)
2 generations of fat guys with wives too hot for them (Center of the Universe)
Twice-cancelled guy with wife too hot for him (Grounded for life)
