Between this one and Green lantern, I totally agree!

That is cool! I'd rather see the white hair, though. I always thought Marv's costume was one of the all-time best.

(Cue "blue" means "black" argument).

I dont think that applies here Gohn, Captain Marvels er.. outfit, was meant to be red and blue. IMHO.

I agree with you Don, I just bring it up because I saw people arguing it on another board a couple of weeks ago because someone was griping that a new Captain Marvel toy or statue was red and black (I'm not sure what it was, I never saw the thing).

To make up for it, Gil also designed Zero Man.

I play City of Heroes and take a lot of ribbing from friends on how my heroes look well, heroic, instead of the more popular dark or just plain weird. Anyway, i realized just now, that all my heroes have a very Gil Kane influence! And Im ok with that!

Gil did non-complicated elegant costumes. Marv's is in my top three (we did a list on another board once). I actually(!) like the Kane Mar-Vell look vetter than the Starlin look. It's a minor difference, but I like that better (and I'm a big Starlin fan). And that black/blue combo is what I meant by my earlier comment.

Gil Kane first, then Dave Cockrum when it comes to super hero costume design.

By the way, that statue looks modeled after that Jim Starlin take on the character.

I'd have to go with Carmine Infantino second and Dave Cockrum third. All three really knew what they were doing.

That second statue looks pretty good too. Any info on height and cost?

Id think about 10"-12" tall, and about $125

Here's the modern era Captain Marvel to complete the set. It's advertised as an "Online Exclusive", which might explain why the price is four times what the others cost!
