Well, it seems I may be getting an answer as to what happened to further remasters from Epic/Legacy of the Cheap Trick catalogue.
It is unclear what this is exactly and I did not list these as remasters because I don't know if they are remastered, or have bonus tracks. One would assume so, as these are right now being listed as released from the band's own label.
I hate 2-fers, but it looks like that's what this is. I do not believe it is the same 2-fer that came out recently from some bogus label (Acadia was it?) that supposedly sounded awful.
I guess we'll find out more soon, but man, I'm curious. Hope it's not a letdown as I love both of these albums.

Review
When listening to the playback of this in the studio monitors, I got such a great feeling hearing these fine albums once again, back to back, just like we all used to play them from the vinyl days.

This version includes the original segway's used on the One On One LP version, and it also features the original LP line-up of Next Position Please.

It's and extensive and enjoyable listen, and just like a fine wine, this band and their music just get better all the time.

I know I'm in the minority, but these are by far my favorite Cheap Trick albums. It's a shame the Epic/CBS reissues never got to this point in the catalog. I'd love to have remastered versions of these with bonus tracks. I was actually hoping they'd up as "Deluxe Editions."

I wonder if since they're being lumped in together that this is a BGO release.

It's through their own label (at least that's what it says), so that's possible, but I hope not. I'd hope they handled this themselves.
I also wish each release was on it's own, but that's not happening ever now.

Bump: added cover image to the first post. Turns out this isn't self-released, it's a remastered two-fer from the Friday Music label. Expect good sound, good liner notes, but probably no bonus tracks.

Sorry to see that Friday has joined the ranks of reissue labels that don't know how to do decent CD artwork. ("Hey, the art for the second album can fit in right over that picture of the guy with the mustache! I'm a genius!")

Interesting, but for now I'll pass as Epic/Legacy is still supposedly doing these albums and I despise two-fers for the exact reason as the horrid album cover decision and lack of bonus tracks. I might revisit this later but probably not.
I'd rather luck out and find the original CDs used somewhere (I know they go for too much on various sites but that may change now) or even (gasp) buy the download of NPP from Epic/Legacy. Friday usually do good work sonically, but they've done a lot of remasters that came out right around the same time, or a year or two later and were done better by other labels like Deep Purple, Procol Harum, etc.
Friday did a nice job with the Santana last year but nobody had done that album.

Poor Bunny, how they overlayed another cover album over his face. No respect for one of the best Charlie Watts type drummer a band could ever had.
I will get this though, dump the Arcadia that I have and these albums do make a good pair so it will be nice all in one package. I have afew Friday titles and Linda is right, they do good remastering for the price one pays. I agree with Ignohippo in that these records are so cool. Loved them when they came out and still very high on my Cheap Trick play list.

I have the 2-disc Arcadia edition, which is NOT remastered. I have no idea if this new edition is or not, but it's missing five tracks to fit it onto a single disc. One is the bonus extended version of "If you Want My Love," so no biggie there, but it's missing four tracks from Next Position Please... You Talk Too Much, Don't Make Our Love A Crime, All I Really Want, and Twisted Heart. I'll pass...

If that's the case, I'm definitely out and will not bother with this. Thanks for the info. Why the hell can't anyone get these albums right?????

Too bad. All the Friday stuff I have on CD sounds bad, sharp and brittle. Usually missed opportunities with the master tapes.

Friday's Triumvirat's Special Edition of "Spartacus" is killer and their Flash two-fer was pretty decent.

The two Trick albums were produced by Todd Rundgren and Roy Thomas Baker so alot of mid-range will be present. This is a interesting challenge for the remaster engineers I would surmise.

Friday Music has announced that this will be the first release in their Cheap Trick remaster series, so I guess they've taken it over from Legacy. The tracklisting for this two-fer is in the first post now ... One On One is complete, but Next Position Please uses the original vinyl tracklisting, which is short the two tracks from the original CD and cassette which were considered bonuses at the time. Since Friday will be doing more Cheap Trick albums, Iet's hope that the missing tracks will find a home on a forthcoming disc.

I hope they get this CT right. I've purchased two albums and about five CD reissues. Each one bad, tweaked to aural ugliness. And I want them to be good! I love the labels getting this music out ...

This is good news. Friday aren't my favorite reissue label but I think they're OK. The Santana Marathon remaster is too loud, but I do think there are some good things about it and I was happy as hell just to see it. They said there will be more from Santana. I hope so.
I'm just so bummed this Cheap Trick is a two-fer. God I hate those. They look crappy and ugly and to me, it destroys the whole concept of the packaging.
And no bonus tracks stinks. I'm torn, but for now I'll wait for the reviews. Ido know this will be better than the Acadia-I've heard that was terrible and bootleg quality. I've never even heard of that label.

Wha? I can't believe this news-and I can't imagine Cheap Trick without Bun E. Carlos. I hope it's not health issues, and they say it's not, but whatever it is, it's never gonna be the same.

Cheap Trick had this bit of news for fans on Friday: "Bun E. Carlos is not currently the touring drummer for Cheap Trick. Bun E. remains a band member. Everyone is healthy and Cheap Trick will continue to tour as planned."

We used to always joke back in the seventies that my Uncle Gary was the drummer in Cheap Trick, because he looked just like him with the mustache and cigarette in his mouth.

Your Uncle Gary is already cool and he probably doesn't know why! My neighbor's Dad looked like a dead ringer for Bun when we were kids-I always thought of Cheap Trick when I saw him. I always thought Carlos looked like an accountant, but our neighbor was an architect. He did smoke, but he wasn't cool.
I really wonder why Bun left the band!

My Uncle Gary dropped the cigarettes over twenty years ago and the mustache has been gone for ages.

Amazon has updated the cover image for this release, now it's showing the full cover artwork for One On One without the inset image of the Next Position Please cover. I'm guessing that the booklet will contain the full cover images for both albums.

Bun E. Carlos was playing with CT at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. They put on a free concert in the ESPN Zone before the game.

He's not there now.
