Yesterday I was in a Target store and most if not all of the TV on DVD sets that were usually there were gone. They only had sale stuff or sets less than $20. I have heard the same thing happening at another chain that I don't shop at so I can't verify.

I think a lot of non-specialty retailers are winding down their DVD selections lately.

I think Hulu and other online sources has hurt the TV On DVD market and made it less viable for retailers to devote shelf space for it.

Bannings: One too few . . .
And for such a large, non-impulse purchase, you'd probably go with Amazon or something.

The price of these sets tends to vary widely. Wal-Mart has sold season sets of "South Park" for anywhere from $15 to $40, while Target has priced the "Satruday Night Live" sets anywhere from $17 to $50. The sets also tend to go on, then off, then back on the sheves with little rhyme or reason at these stores. It's just so much easier to go on Amazon and avoid the whims of marketing gurus in Arkansas or Minnesota.

Wal * Mart sells the Star Trek TOS sets much cheaper than most retailers and even Amazon. These huge chains have the ability to score some really sweet deals.
