PRESS RELEASE: Judas Priest Southern Florida show will be filmed for live DVD!
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
ATTENTION ALL METALHEADS: JUDAS PRIEST’S UPCOMING SOUTHERN FLORIDA SHOW WILL BE FILMED FOR A LIVE DVD - NOT TO BE MISSED - TICKETS ON SALE NOW - SO BE THERE!!!!
It is hard to pinpoint when heavy metal history is going to be made. However, an upcoming event will surely be one of the few times you know for sure that it will. Judas Priest will be filming their upcoming August 17th performance at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – Hollywood, FL, for a DVD that will be included in a forthcoming expanded 30th Anniversary edition of their 1980 classic, ‘British Steel.’ As with all of their U.S. summer dates this year, Priest has been performing the album in its entirety from front to back. With the band playing the entire ‘British Steel’ repertoire, the August 17th show at the Seminole Hard Rock Arena in Hollywood, Florida (which will be one of the last of this US Summer ’09 tour) will surely capture Priest at their peak!! Not to be missed!!
‘British Steel’ has long been considered one of metal’s all-time classics. It was with this release that Priest truly broke through to the masses, with a pair of tracks that have become fixtures on rock radio - the enduring anthems “Breaking the Law” and “Living After Midnight.” But like all classic albums, there is not a single weak track detected on ‘British Steel,’ as evidenced by such standouts as the perennial concert highlight, “Metal Gods,” as well as “Rapid Fire,” “Grinder,” “United,” and “The Rage,” among others.
Produced by Tom Allom, ‘British Steel’ was recorded at Tittenhurst Park in England - which is a mansion owned at the time by former Beatle Ringo Starr, and previously owned by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In 2001, the album was remastered and reissued with extra bonus tracks, and also, was the subject of an in-depth study as part of the popular ‘Classic Albums’ DVD series.
So come on out on August 17th and cheer the mighty Priest on as they document on stage an album that has served as the perfect metal summer soundtrack year after year and constantly picks up new converts.........don't miss your chance to be included in this rare DVD footage!!

I think this would be a better package if they included a show from the actual British Steel tour in 1980.
And to be even more nit-picky, this year is the 29th anniversary of British Steel, not the 30th.
I'm with you Chris...expanded edition of British Steel sounds great, but a DVD from that tour, or even a live concert CD version, would have been better. I didn't know they were performing BS as a whole. Aren't they still on the Nostradamus Tour?

I have zero interest in this. The original CD sounds much, much better than the remaster.
In addition, the remastered CD uses the British track sequence. Being from the US, it was weird to not start off British Steel with "Breaking The Law." I'm too used to hearing the US version, so I'm with you on this one, sound quality issues aside.

This is odd. All the songs are in a different key now and don't sound so hot. Good, but not like they should. Also, there was no "Nostradamus" tour. They only did festivals and the Masters Of Metal Tour last summer-they have yet to actually perform the album as a whole though they still claim to be doing it. It didn't go over very well, so I'm not sure what will happen there. There's nothing wrong with the Priest remasters, they were all done very well and not compressed, not sure why someone didn't like it, but to each his own there. The way I read this, is this the same 2001 remaster, the same bonus tracks-just the new live disc? If so, pass.

Well, let's hope this Florida show was better than the one in CT; where R.Halford stood still, bent over and staring at the floor, probably reading from a teleprompter for the first 2 songs

Well, this is finally coming out in May for those who care as a CD/DVD combo and 2 CD/DVD combo. But really other than showing they can't play the songs in the same key anymore and Halford looks like he's in pain, what's the point???
Judas Priest are to release a deluxe edition of their iconic 1980 album British Steel on May 10. This will actually come in two formats. The ‘normal’ deluxe edition will have a bonus DVD, filmed last year (August 17) at the Seminole Hard Rock Arena in Hollywood, Florida, when the band played the whole of this album. The ‘limited edition’ deluxe edition will also have an extra live CD from that show.
The full track listing is:
Disc 1 – remastered album
1. Rapid Fire
2. Metal Gods
3. Breaking The Law
4. Grinder
5. United
6. You Don’t Have To Be Old To Be Wise
7. Living After Midnight
8. The Rage
9. Steeler
10. Red, White & Blue (bonus track)
11. Grinder (live – bonus track)
Disc 2 – DVD
1. Rapid Fire
2. Metal Gods
3. Breaking The Law
4. Grinder
5. United
6. You Don’t Have To Be Old To Be Wise
7. Living After Midnight
8. The Rage
9. Steeler
10. The Ripper
11. Prophecy
12. Hell Patrol
13. Victim Of Changes
14. Freewheel Burning
15. Diamonds And Rust
16. You’ve Got Another Thing Coming
Disc 3 – live album
Track listing as DVD – although for some reason Hell Patrol is omitted

Halford has been doing this since the Painkiller tour . I've seen them quite a few times and he was usually pretty lively on stage , then on the Painkiller tour he bassically just stood in one spot hunched over . With the anniversary edition of British Steel I'd much rather have a British Steel tour dvd . I remember seeing them at the old Calderone Concert Hall in Hempstead NY on that tour and they were pretty damn good.

My friend at work who saw them last summer said they were great and that Halford can still hit those high notes.
I saw them and Halford can still hit SOME of the high notes. The songs are in a different key as well. Priest are still a very good live act and the fact that Halford even attempts "Painkiller" at his age is nuts. But a vintage show from 1980 would be better-however there are none, so I guess they felt this was best. What I want to know, is does this have new remastering or not? If so, it won't be as good as the last ones from 2001 I'd imagine.

I think you're one of the few people who like the JP remasters, IP. Those get beaten about the head and shoulders over at the Hoffman board -- primarily due to the fact that Jon "Who" Astley did the remastering.
I have a few of them and they sound okay to me -- I was listening to Unleashed In The East just the other day, actually.

I hear ya Chris-anything Astley does gets ripped. I thought the Priest remasters were fine, no problems at all, but he did make the Boomtown Rats remasters way too loud.

More info-this will be released in the UK and US and I will change the date to reflect the US release. Nice to see Tom Allom involved!!!
Music have announced the release of a limited deluxe expanded edition of JUDAS PRIEST’s seminal album, British Steel, on May 10th in the UK and May 11th in North America.
British Steel was the sixth studio album by Judas Priest. Released on April 14th, 1980 and produced by Tom Allom, British Steel was recorded at Tittenhurst Park in England - a mansion owned at the time by former BEATLE Ringo Starr, and previously owned by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
British Steel has long been considered one of metals all-time classics. It was with this release that Priest truly broke through to the masses, with a pair of tracks that have become fixtures on rock radio - the enduring anthems 'Breaking The Law' and 'Living After Midnight'. But like all classic albums, there is not a single weak track detected on British Steel, as evidenced by such standouts as the perennial concert highlight, 'Metal Gods', as well as 'Rapid Fire', 'Grinder', 'United' and 'The Rage', amongst others.
In 2009 Judas Priest performed the British Steel album in its entirety for the first time ever as part of their 30th anniversary USA tour. A filmed recording of the show on the August 17th, 2009 at The Seminole Hard Rock Arena, Hollywood, Florida - will be included in both the limited edition deluxe and deluxe releases. The show was captured in front of a vibrant American audience and in full 5.1 surround and stereo sound. Known for their high-energy and spectacular stage shows the band played the entire British Steel album in sequence as well as a number of other well-know tracks from their catalog.
The live concert was mixed in stereo and 5.1 by the original British Steel producer Tom Allom. In addition, the DVD will include the bonus content of The Making Of British Steel, a 30-minute doc featuring the 4 original band members. This new DVD brings the live Priest experience like no other live recording.
The deluxe expanded edition will come in two formats:
- Limited edition deluxe three-disc to include original album, live DVD and live CD - Deluxe two-disc to include original album plus live DVD
Full tracklistings are as follows:
Disc 1 – Remastered album 'Rapid Fire' 'Metal Gods' 'Breaking The Law' 'Grinder' 'United' 'You Don’t Have To Be Old To Be Wise' 'Living After Midnight' 'The Rage' 'Steeler'
Bonus tracks: 'Red, White & Blue' 'Grinder' (Live)
Disc 2 – DVD 'Rapid Fire' 'Metal Gods' 'Breaking The Law' 'Grinder' 'United' 'You Don’t Have To Be Old To Be Wise' 'Living After Midnight' 'The Rage' 'Steeler' 'The Ripper' 'Prophecy' 'Hell Patrol' 'Victim Of Changes' 'Freewheel Burning' 'Diamonds And Rust' 'You’ve Got Another Thing Coming'
Disc 3 – Live album 'Rapid Fire' 'Metal Gods' 'Breaking The Law' 'Grinder' 'United' 'You Don’t Have To Be Old To Be Wise' 'Living After Midnight' 'The Rage' 'Steeler' 'The Ripper' 'Hell Patrol' 'Victim Of Changes' 'Freewheel Burning' 'Diamonds And Rust' 'You’ve Got Another Thing Coming'

Actually, I can't change the date-I didn't start this thread. The date is May 11 for the US. The CD sadly, deletes "Prophecy". Also, looks to be the same 2001 remaster as the track listing, including bonus cuts is identical. I may pass on this, I'm not sure.
