All New Acoustic Studio Recordings IN STORES FEB. 9!
These are songs that I have written over the years and now re-recorded. I wanted to give you, the listener, a small sort of gift. These are the songs I consider love songs, although they are also songs of attraction, flirtation, and confrontation.

I'm getting sick of projects like this. Cyndi Lauper, Randy Newman and Joni Mitchell are just a few of the artists who have done these remake albums in recent years. Sometimes they go the acoustic route, sometimes the orchestral route, but whatever route they take it usually comes off as treading water to me. I guess these must sell better than albums of new material or otherwise I don't think so many artists would do them these days ... would they? In Suzanne Vega's case I'm sure they will be pleasant listening because the originals were pleasant listening. I love ya' Suzanne but I can't see buying these songs again.
Maybe we should start a new designation: YARA = Yet Another Remake Album.

It may be something like what happened with Blue Oyster Cult when they recorded "Cult Classic."
As I understand it (from Buck Dharma), Stephen King wanted to use "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" in the mini-series of his book "The Stand." Sony still owned the rights to the original recording, so the band re-recorded some of their material.

Though the old jazz guys (Ellington, Armstrong, etc) had anyone today beat 10 times over on this subject.
A big part of jazz is the improvisation, so two or more versions of the same song can be considerably different and thus desired by fans. This holds true in rock too, because jam bands are usually a lot bigger in the "tape trading" circles than bands who basically present the same show night after night.

A short piece in Time magazine a couple of weeks back mentioned 16 tracks on a deluxe edition of this (as compared to the 12 tracks on the regular edition). Anyone have any info on this?
I listened to snippets of the tracks online and thought they sounded nice, though some did come across as very much the same as the originals, particularly tracks from her first couple of albums.

The four additional tracks on the "deluxe" edition are: 1. 99.9 2. It Makes Me Wonder 3. Freeze Tag 4. Knight Moves
They're only available on iTunes, however. I don't believe there's a physical product that contains them.

Would have been nice if i had known before I bought the thing. She's even offering an "autographed" version at $20 WITHOUT any bonus tracks.
I HATE I-TUNES. MP3's ARE POOP

The thing that gets me is that she's planning on doing 4 of these things. (Although I'll admit that I like this one.) So is it going to be the same deal every time, bonus tracks one place or another? Maybe next time Amazon will get the bonus tracks. Ugh!

In addition to the I-tunes BS, cheap packaging also. Here's a picture of mine. Sent in a bubble mailer, & note the cd is hanging out of the package....... Fortunately no scratches.
