The early proggy pop, exemplified by "Odessa", the middle R&B/pop/disco period, exemplified by "Saturday Night Fever" OST, or the late pop period, exemplified by "E.S.P." and the brilliant single, "You win Again"? I vote for the middle period, hard to top "Saturday Night Fever" OST! They made falsetto fashionable again, after Brian lost his!

Early period, although I have to admit that some of those disco songs have grown on me over the years.

I voted for early period. They made some great singles from 67-69, but my actual favorite period includes the albums from Cucumber Castle through Mr. Natural. They were still writing great pop stuff, but had started to add in a bit more rock, country, soul, etc..

I voted for the early period, but my favorite album is the one in which they entered the middle period, I guess: "Main Course".

Early period only. I lost interest in them after the great "Jumbo" single. Can't abide the disco stuff. Never a SNF fan in any way.

Why is Spirits Having Flown given a 2008 release date? It came out in 1979. There are similar errors with other releases, too.

Perhaps they are referring to some remasters?

From what I've heard by those guys, "Main Course" is my favorite as well.

I prefer early period, but I do enjoy many of their funk/disco-era singles and albums.

I recently listened to their 1976 LA Forum set on the Wolfgang's Vault site and thought it was fantastic.

Weepy ballad period (1st-TWIMC). But nearly all of it's great.

Their last album was probably in their top 5 best.

Maybe it's my age, but "Main Course" (1975) through "Spirits Having Flown" (1979) were my favorites. I do love the early stuff too though. After "Spirits Having Flown", save the occasional single, it was mostly crap IMHO.

That's what I figure. Because SHF came right during their peak period, right after Saturday Night Fever. That album was huge back in 1979.

The only period Bee Gees I can listen to is the early period where they sounded kinda like The Beatles.

Early. Although they had good songs in all eras, the early stuff is nearer and dearer to my youth..

By far the early period for LP's, but have also enjoyed a lot of the singles from SNF and on. There are also about 35 excellent Beatles influenced songs (mostly written by Barry) from their pre-international success Australian releases, and another 25 or so of largely sappy pop stuff from that same era. But those 35 good tracks make up a nice single cd.

Early period - I only really have the 1st 3 albums (remastered box set). Can't stand disco. I'm not crazy about their early 70's ballads either - i.e. How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.
