As a movie: eh.

But I can't shake the feeling that the brothers who wrote and directed this were comic fans. They created a rich universe that I would have loved to see explored in a monthly title. Imagine Gatica crossed with True Blood, in which the majority of the population have been turned into vampires and ceased to be cool bad-asses and get trapped in the same sort of boring, corporate life that they had before... only the blood is running out and they risk devolving into ferral bat-creatures if they don't develop a blood substitute.

Then add in the plucky humans being hunted down by a Vampire Army, politicians fighting for human rights, and the whispers of a possible cure.

Then condense all that into an hour and a half and make it about fight scenes... then you have this movie. A shame, there's something really cool here.

Sounds like it will be a great DVD but I'm not excited enough to get off the couch and go to a theater. Maybe because their is just too many vampire movies these days. Is there another Blade movie coming out soon?

It would make a pretty good TV series. Steven Clubb's review is dead on.
