The cd might be good. I can't imagine wanting to watch him on tv for 2 hours, though!

Oh, I can! Man, the Live In San Francisco DVD is incredible. Just watching the joy and ease he plays with is a pleasure. In fact, I could watch him play "Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing" for 2 hours alone!
I saw him in Philly at the Tower Theater back in 2006 and it was one of the best shows I've ever witnessed and it was anything but dull. That's why I love his playing-he pays attention to song as well as solo.
I will get this release.

Joe Satriani "Live In San Francisco" is by far my favorite concert of his to watch. I have probably watched that concert more than any other DVD concert (with maybe exception to some of The Who concerts). It's amazing to watch him play and hear the different sounds that he gets to come out of that guitar. The rest of the band is fun to watch too. Jeff Campitelli is a highly underrated drummer. He has to be fast and precise to keep up with Joe.

Only a DVD version has been announced ... so far!

I just picked up the DVD version today at BestBuy - on sale for $7.99.

I actually wanted to get the CD version instead of the DVD version (I hardly ever sit down to "watch" music in my house, I only want to listen to it), but the CD was $14.99 and not "on sale" (wtf?).

I'll just crank the DVD up through the stereo and leave the TV off. Hopefully it has a stereo mix on it (I do not have 5.1 system).

Same situation at Amazon — the DVD is on sale for $7.99 ...

Not sure what audio version you have? The re-mastered DVD is in a translucent case and the disc has a large V2 stamp on it. The original pressing is in a white case and the disc does not note the version number.

Anyone know what has been changed? It is actually an improvement??

Or is something funny going on - maybe Joe included a lick from a copyrighted Coldplay song so they are recalling it & replacing the link to avoid being sued??? I'm joking, but you never know.
