Y'all can't imagine how much I'm looking forward to the 2010 version of this thread ....
I can't think of a better reason to start this.
With Alice Cooper's Love It To Death and Judas Priest's Hell Bent For Leather slated for gold "audiophile" releases next year, why not start this fershlugginer thread right now???
I just hope AF and what's-his-name get their act together next year, because I would like good sounding releases of these albums, especially Hell Bent For Leather, which I've never purchased in any audio format before.
Time will reveal.
Love It To Death ended up being released in December 2009. AF's 2010 releases can be found below. — Linda

I am looking forward to the Randy Newman disc (excellent choice) but the S&G is already well represented on CD by the remix/remaster done by Vic Anesini.

I just have to get this off my chest. I started a thread two days ago on the Hoffman site about these two releases coming out and then the thread was deleted. I had no idea why, so I contacted them and they said that somebody posted some incorrect information about the Simon and Garfunkel master-tape so the thread was removed for editing and they were going to re-post the thread once they edited it. I never got to see that information, so I was a bit ticked that my thread was removed. Since that time, individual threads were posted both about the S+G and the Randy Newman CDs and I posted in those threads, also inquiring about the fact that I had already posted that information. They removed my posts alluding to the missing thread.
I can understand them wanting to protect the releases by removing incorrect or false information. But I personally have never posted anything inflammatory or derogatory on the Hoffman board. I am very civil and understanding of certain information that should and should not be posted. Lately, though, I have noticed quite a few of my posts over the past few months have been removed, and I did not mention anything "incorrect" or worthy of deletion. Now a whole thread I start is removed, never to be put back with the "good" information intact.
I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I do - I feel slighted. I am a long time member there and have never done anything wrong. I understand the need for diplomacy and I respect Steve's right to run his website the way he feels - but "kicking" good people in the butt to protect against the few bad ones seems wrong. Ok rant over.
That said, I am looking forward to the S+G release, and am willing to give the Randy Newman a chance since I am not really a fan. This might open the door to music I never paid much attention to (Randy Newman).

I hope the S&G is a Mono release. Steve H. mentioned he had played a mono version lp of S&G "Rosemary...." I believe and was blown away. Oh, please let that be the release!

They may be some goof overtime available I honestly can't see him using the remixes even if he may possibly have to add bonus tracks. It's against his religion as well as pointless as he needs a U.S.P. to differentiate his version.

From what I understand Simon is against using Mono mixes. When Sundaze want to use the mono tapes for vinyl, a few years back, Paul blocked it.

The Gorts over there have become overzealous even compared to some of the previous ones. I just find this absurd--you don't eliminate the whole thread -you either eliminate the offedning post or put information in there to correct it. In this case I believe that the post was regarding the fact that the Ansini remasters were from remixes because the original mastertape was in such poor condition.
There was also something mentioned about the fact that Marshall was removing the "Not Brickwalled, Maximized, etc." legend that appeared on the cardboard sleeve.
I suspect that part of this is due to the fact that in a couple of cases the master tape hasn't been used but an analog or digital copy and the whole issue with the limiting applied to The Pretenders release.
Either way, it'san overreaction because really the comments aren't inflammatory if there is incorrect information that has been posted in other threads they aren't removed but someone else just corrects them with another post. It's getting really, really silly over there...

Mike if you notice a lot of long time members don't discuss the AF releases.
