The Stooges, Genesis and ABBA lead the list of accomplished artists that will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. The class of 2010 also includes the Hollies and Jimmy Cliff.

Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich were also well-deserved.....one of the great songwriting teams.

Too bad Ellie is no longer around to hear about this.

I agree with Genesis & The Hollies. Stooges might be deserving on influence, though not on music. The other 2.......... maybe after 100 more deserving artists make it in. Hopefully we'll get a Genesis reunion with PG!

Awesome to see Genesis and The Hollies and The Stooges get in...if I cared. The Hall Of Shame remains a pitiful joke. The fact KISS didn't make it is 100% proof.

Great news on the Hollies! I thought they and other '60s artists who hadn't made it yet might be SOL. Overall, a nice group of inductees, many of whom were thought impossible to get past Jann Wenner.

I continue to discount the anti Wenner bias somewhat as a lot of RS's fav 60's SF artists are not in.

The fact that KISS got a nod at all surprised me. Their not getting in doesn't.

Seriously, it's about time ABBA was inducted. I think Linda Ronstadt deserves to be in there also.

I can see ABBA based on who they've let in before. What I can't see is the number of deserving bands still excluded that exceed the criteria they've used to justify some of the previous inductees. Then again, I'm not a big fan of the RNRHOF.

No offense taken, at least not by this ABBA fan, but ABBA has as much to do with "Rock and Roll" as Yes and a lot of other prog bands. The fact that you believe Dan Fogelberg deserves entry before ABBA just shows that we all have our subjective ideas and apply them as we see fit. I, for example, think King Crimson should have gone in before Genesis. I like a lot of what Genesis did, but overall I think Crimson did much better work. And while I also like Ronstadt and Simon, how are they better or more deserving than ABBA? I'm glad that the Hollies got in.
The best thing that could happen here would be for ABBA to appear in person to
accept the induction, and then perform. I know they've turned down a lot of money
to do so in the past.

Very happy that GENESIS finally makes it into the HOF.
