Looks like I missed this somehow. Due to tragic lack of funds I shan't be purchasing this, but boy do I want to. Reviews state the sound quality is excellent, but the packaging is so-so with the CDs in cardboard sleeves (yuk).
Tower.com has the boxset for $61, Amazon.com for $87 or so.
I dislike downloads, but I saw this is available at AmazonUK for $20 pounds as an MP3 download (I think the whole thing-not sure). Might be the way to go.
For any Marillion fan, especially of the classic years, this seems pretty damn sweet.

46 pounds at amazon.co.uk. With the VAT offset, it costs about that to have it shipped to the U.S. With the current exchange rate, that's competitive with the tower price (plus you're guaranteed to get it).

I originally posted that this was a reissue of Curtain Club. I was wrong - this is an all new release.

Thanks for the notice, I want this badly. I'm on the band's email list but this is the first I've heard of it.

With today's exchange rate, it comes to $62.56 USD + your bank's exchange fees shipped from Amazon.UK

I don't have the $'s, but I suspect it will be around for awhile.

Yeah, this sounds stellar, but I do not have the scratch right now for it. It's interesting to see the time frame being used. The Dec. 1984 show features a preview of the "Misplaced Childhood" material and the version of "Kayleigh" has totally different lyrics!
This may be on my Christmas list even though it's only April.

I have one track from the Reading show on a 2 LP va compilation I've had for 20+ years. The sound on that track is excellent.

Got this yesterday ($35 new from an Amazon.UK 3rd party). CD #1 was quite good with some interesting early arrangements. Looking forward to hearing the rest, I'm under the impression that this is going to be higher quality then the earlier Fish era live official boots box.

Geff:
That's a sweet price. keep us informed as regards performances/sound quality. This is still on my list at some point.

So far disc 1 & the 1st 1/2 of disc 6 are excellent. 1 was played on my pc & 6 in the car. Only sound issue I could hear in that enviornment with not giving my full attention to it was some hum on cd #1. The performances on CD #1 were really unique, though.

Will post more when I'm done.

I bought it from a US seller on Amazon UK. My only issue at all with the seller was the postmark date is 13 days after I paid for it, but still within Amazon's long guidelines.

Having made it 2/3 through, I feel safe in highly recommending the set. My only criticism is that as per pretty much all of the EMI Marillion remasters, it leans somewhat bright & harsh. IP, I know that hasn't bothered you, so this would be a no reservation recommendation. I haven't played the earlier Curtain box in a long time (I need to pull it out), but if memory serves this is much better.

Unfortunately, the price has gone way up from 3rd party sellers since I bought mine. I feel fortunate to have gotten it for $35.

The worst sounding disc is the last one I played; Reading 1983.Interestingly there is a Reading 1982 compilation album with Marillion doing Three Boats Down From The Candy that afaik has never been released on cd.

The Reading '83 (cd #4) is basically good bootleg quality, but the rest of the set is fine.

From this thread, I can see I bought this in 12/09. I am so behind in cd listening that I just got to my second listen in August of this year.

Disc 6 is so good that I am playing it over & over; I just can't bring myself to file it.

The whole box is very very good, but disc 6 is to die for.

Interesting that it doesn't sound as bright to me now as it did in 2009. Could be aging hearing, or the system I'm playing it on.

And the "3rd party" price has gone down since I bought it.

Darn it Geff. your costing me money this month.}

Actually I owe you a big Thanks, first the Stanley Kramer DVD box posting for $10 bucks and now this for $28. +$2.98 for shipping. Another steal, especially when some are selling this well over $100.00. Looking forward to disc 6!

Just out of curiosity, how are y'all getting the low price? Looks like most shippers are out of the UK, and I can't believe they're sending this set out for only $2.98 to the States...

They have to if they list an item at Amazon USA. Amazon sets the postage, not the dealer, so even when you order from a Japan-based third party seller you still pay just $2.98 for postage.

Even the Amazon.UK int shipping is cheap (just over 3 lbs). The sellers are likely losing money on the shipping; hopefully they have the brains to add it to the sale price (though these days it's hard to get a decent price on all but a select few cd's).

Same here, mine was received from Scotland Monday. This weekend is chock full of great CDs to listen to.

I can't wait for Friday night so I can get a jump on things.
