Product Description
Following Edsel’s huge success with its re-issue of Gillan’s classic albums from 1979 to 1982, the label is proud to issue this 3CD live set, authorised by Ian Gillan himself, representing both line-ups. Gillan’s live performances were always electrifying, and this release is great evidence!

Disc One was recorded at London’s legendary Rainbow Theatre on 4th March 1981, with Bernie Torme on lead guitar. With the exception of one song, the performance is previously unreleased.

Disc Two features the band’s triumphant headlining set at the Reading Festival on 29th August 1981, with Janick Gers on lead guitar. Only half of the songs have previously been available, on the 1981 release “Double Trouble”.

Disc Three features exciting extras: five songs recorded in April 1982 for BBC Radio 1’s “Friday Rock Show” and five songs from a concert in Nottingham in March 1981. None of these tracks have been officially released before.

The booklet will feature many photos and ephemera from two fans’ personal collections.

The price is right, and the performances are good, though some of "Disc Two" had already been released on the half-studio/half-live double album "Double Trouble".

I do not have anything live from Gillan even though I have two studio CD's. Should be interesting to check out.

The packaging on this is a 4 alarm nightmare.

The discs are packed in a fat boy case and then jammed into the tightest slip case I've ever dealt with. And since the middle disc is on a hub it stands a VERY good chance of popping loose in transit.

Trying to get the disc case out of the slipcase is the real challenge. No notch - so expect to spend quite a bit of time trying to extract it without ripping the outer paper to shreds in rage. I've been through two of these sets already - so get it from Amazon since you will need a few tries (and returns) to get a decent set.

The music itself is stellar - IF you can get to it that is.

Wow , you ain't kiddin' . This is the toughest slipcase I have ever seen. After a few tries I finally opened the folded spine and pushed the jewel case out . I'm sure it'll get a little looser after a few listens .
