got this today while browsing
how do i get rid of it?
ive ran spybot and malabytes while in safe mode,but when i start up its still there running
Help please ?

I hate to turn someone to the dark side but...buy a Mac. Or educate yourself about spyware/virus protection and use that knowledge to keep your system clean. I have NEVER been infected with any of this stuff, because I do just that. I could, in all seriousness, run my system without antivirus or spyware products installed and still not get hit, because I know safe practices. And you should too. I'm not being an ass; this is truly the right answer, and something everybody should do! Err..not buy a Mac, the rest of that.

Now, that said, find superantispyware, install and run it.

i have that, i ran that also with no luck.

download avast! and malwarebytes

Update them when you first run them.

Running Firefox? Firefox all by itself is protection from TONS of malware and evil stuff that IE just happily runs and passes over to your operating system. If you click a link and it tries to download something and you weren't expecting it to, cancel the download. Never open any email attachments you aren't expecting, even if they are from people you know.
Run some form of antivirus/spyware protection, which you're already doing. I recently discovered Microsoft Security Essentials, a free antivirus/spyware tool for Windows from MS themselves. In testing it's fared pretty well. I used to use Windows Defender (now integrated with the above product) and AVG antivirus. Like I said, I don't think I even need them, using common sense and secure browsing techniques...but I'm still going to run them just in case!

last nite managed to get rid of the virus.now my pc wont connect to the internet.laptop via wireles router fine.whats gone wrong now?

TCP IP or your winsock was probably compromised by the spyware. For XP I use a program I downloaded called WinsockXPFix.

i tried winsock there, didnt work for me . .

Is there anything wrong with Norton -- it came with this computer and it seems to work well. Non-obtrusive but seems to catch everything. I also use Firefox. Thanks.

Search for Norton via Google and you'll get about 500,000 pages of complaints. It seems that uninstalling it has been the most popular fix for PC problems since Windows 95 was released.

Can't really imagine it working well at this point. I hear Norton and immediately think, "REMOVE THAT! IT WILL DESTROY YOU!"

But if it works for you, sure, don't change things.

That's what I'd always heard, and surely it must have been a rough road for the last 20 years, with ups and downs.

But it just kind of sits there and it's easy to get to the console for it. Catches things that seem to need catching.

I think perhaps it's not all that necessary, but it does seem to be effective at this point.

I use only gmail on this computer, which is probably good.

And only Firefox for browsing.

Never need to get files off of a flash drive or anything.

And it's only connected to the internet by wireless.

So that's probably the start of a pretty safe machine anyway.

Isn't your laptop Linux too? Or are you on another computer?
