Has anyone had experience coloring *for print (cmyk)* using
Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 (formerly from Corel)?
Is there a way in which to create a cmyk palette in the program?
Otherwise, a CMYK to RGB color converter might help also if anyone knows of one online.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

Yes, you can do cmyk in Paint Shop Pro 9. No, I don't know how to do it. But I do know that you can, because I once accidentally separated a picture into its cmyk components.
And it's exactly 180° from what you're saying: Paint Shop Pro was a Jasc product that was recently bought by Corel.
Edited to add:
This is what I got from the PSP9 help:
Paint Shop Pro 9 Help wrote: CMYK Model The CMYK model is based on the fact that ink on paper both absorbs and reflects light. As white light strikes the ink, part of the color spectrum is absorbed and part is reflected back to your eyes (resulting in the color you see).
In this model, the primary colors cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y) combine in varying proportions to produce a variety of colors. When the three colors are combined, they produce black. Because impurities in the ink make it difficult to produce a true black, a fourth color, black (K), is added.
Combining inks in this way is called four-color process printing. It is used by printing services and high-end color printers.
Although you cannot create images in Paint Shop Pro using the CMYK model, you can produce color separations that can be printed on CMYK printers. There are two ways to do this: You can split the images into CMYK channels or you can print color separation pages.
CMYK channels are simply four separate greyscale images that represent the percentage and location of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black in the image. For more information, see Working with Color Channels.
When you print CMYK separations, Paint Shop Pro prints a separate greyscale page for each primary color. You can then use these pages as “color plates” to give to a printing service. For more information, see Printing with CMYK Color Separations.

That's how you do it though. I've used PSP since it was simply an image organizer program.

PSP's are awesome! Almost bought one in Spain last year but figured I might want an Engish one. Cool games and even videos, way better than Nintendo!

I dunno. I tried that stunt where you take a whole lotta PSP then punch a car windshield - you are supposed to smash the windshield, break your hand, but not feel a thing.
Well, I guess I didn't hit it hard enough, because neither the windshield nor my hand broke. But it sure hurt a lot.
...or was that supposed to be PCP?

Thanks for the comments, James. You're right in that the product is currently Corel, not the other way around. I don't have this program and posted on behalf of a friend, hence my getting the facts wrong.
This application certainly isn't as print friendly as Adobe Photoshop (which is what I've used for years).
A solution may be to save or export the file and open/convert that in Photoshop, yet on conversion the CMY separations (sans K) would likely include some black which may result in muted colors.
I definitely appreciate the tips though.

Not a problem, Ian. What application do you use, btw?

I believe PSP can save files in Photoshop format.

I prefer the PS2.though in about 5 years when they are about to introduce the PS4, I'll probably pony up the $$$ to get a PS3.(becase all of the GTA's in development will be for that platform, and I can only play GTA:SA, GTA3, GTA:VC, and GTA:LCS so many times after all..............unless they port GTA:VCS over to the PS2, like they did for GTA:LCS!)
Oh, and since the VP is such a VIP shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? Cuz if word leaks to the VC he could end up a MIA, then we'd all be put on KP.

Photoshop 5.5. I've never found that any of the later versions were as nice (for me, at least) as this one. In fact, PS 6 causes some serious problems with some of my painting methods (technical stuff that wouldn't mean anything if you didn't paint pages exactly the way that I do - even most other colourists wouldn't run into these problems).
