If stores still had cut out bins (if stores still sold CD's), that is where this one will end up. Can't figure out how a label could believe they will make money selling stuff like this. must be a very low break even point.

I'm pretty sure that both of these can be had individually now, for very short money, in any of your local used CD stores. This seems like a pretty pointless reissue. Who is going to buy this? (Besides Jimbo of course.)

I only recognize one song on the track lists, "Nothing's gonna stop us now", but I remember seeing these in the used CD shops back in the day.
Oh these albums had plenty of hits, but they were total corporate crapola. "It's Not Over ('Til It's Over" was Top 10 and the sickening "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" hit #1 and the pathetic "Beat Patrol" just missed the Top 40 all from No Protection. The latter album had a big hit with "It's Not Enough" which fell just shy of the Top 10-I actually did like that one sadly. Just brutal stuff. Mercifully it all ended for Starship in 1991, although Mickey Thomas has his own bogus version of the band playing state fairs and bingo parlors. There actually was an unusual, but outstanding comp in the late 90's from Legacy I think called "Hits" which was a 2CD set that had Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship hits and was very well done. I used to have it, sold it, and now I'd like it back-is it OOP?
This was the rather good track listing: 1 It's No Secret 2 Somebody To Love 3 White Rabbit 4 Embryonic Journey 5 Plastic Fantastic Lover 6 Comin' Back To Me 7 Ballad Of You And Me And Pooneil 8 Greasy Heart 9 Lather 10 Crown Of Creation 11 Wooden Ships 12 Volunteers 13 Good Shepherd 14 Have You Seen The Saucers 15 Pretty As You Feel 16 Third Week In The Chelsea 17 Long John Silver 18 Caroline 19 Ride The Tiger
DISC 2 for Hits (CD) Album By Jefferson Airplane (Artist) Listen
1 Miracles 2 With Your Love 3 Count On Me 4 Runaway 5 Jane 6 Find Your Way Back 7 Stranger 8 Be My Lady 9 No Way Out 10 Layin' It On The Line 11 We Built This City 12 Sara 13 Tomorrow Doesn't Matter Tonight 14 Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now 15 It's Not Over (Til It's Over) 16 It's Not Enough

Jay: Thanks-looks like some reasonable and ridiculous prices. I will try to get this again at some point. I sold it a while ago for $25 so it might have been OOP even back then. I forget why I sold it!

No thanks,I'll leave it with Modern Times and Nuclear Furniture.
Master Hare,
Do you mean you collect only up to Nuclear Furniture, or you don't like Modern Times and Nuclear Furniture either?
GoogaMooga
Everything up to,and including Modern Times/Nuclear Furniture.I would also need "Earth" and "Winds Of Change" to do that then I'd be covered for all the JA and JS albums up to that date. No Starship for me either.

Artistic merits aside, let's not discourage our friends at Friday Music for getting CD titles back on the market.
I agree wholeheartedly with that. Putting albums back in print is ALWAYS a good thing in my book! Who's to say when someone begins collecting a particular artist?

You're right Jimbo,Friday Music needs all our encouragement !! They did a fantasic job on Santana's "Marathon" and I will also buy the Jefferson Starship "Modern Times and Nuclear Furniture" two-fer and Blood Sweat and Tears "4" put out by them.

I am happy Friday is continuing reissues, but nothing will make me buy a bad album, and nothing Starship put out was worth buying, and I say that as a huge Jefferson Airplane fan (and could I have a longer run-on sentence).

I do like Starship as a guilty pleasure. The Platinum & Gold collection covers these years (1985-1989) quite well.
