Man, my parents would never let us get Jiffy Pop. They were big on not spending money on gimmicky or name brand foods. They only bought Coca-Cola and 7up as mixers for their parties. The rest of the time we drank store brand sodas.

Jiffy Pop was a tradition on our family camping trips when I was a lad. Nothing like Jiffy Pop popped over a campfire.

I was just discussing Jiffy Pop with my mother. My memory is that we never or very rarely bought it. Her memory is that we got it all the time! Odd. Anyway, we had an electric popper that got a lot of use. I now use an Alton Brown trick of foil over a saucepan ala Jiffy Pop. Punch a couple of holes in the foil to vent it and off you go. It doesn't poof up, like Jiffy Pop, but the results are quite good.
