Has the new show impacted who your favorite companion is? I'm still a fan of Sarah Jane Smith, and much as I liked Rose and fell for her stoyline hook line and sinker, Sarah remains my favorite. Her reappearnace in the new series was a tear jerker and reminded me of why she will always be my favorite companion.

Ahhhhh Leela. She was awesome. I have liked lots of companions over the years, but there is only one SJS.

I'd always been torn between SJS and Romana II as my favorite. Now, Donna Noble makes that a threesome.

Old series, definitely Sarah. New Series, Donna, no question.

I guess the fact that this was in the Playroom should have tipped me off that this was about Doctor Who and not the band...you know...The Who.

I have to express a great fondness for Jo Grant. Starts off as an almost completely useless girl, then becomes a fairly adept escape artist, then actually gets written off in a way that didn't seem to come completely out of no where by marrying someone who is basically a younger Doctor.
SJS and Leela are both wonderful characters, but who the writers seemed to be struggling to keep in character, and both had fairly abrupt exits that were just codas to their final adventure.

Leela had all the sex appeal, but I agree with Clubb about Jo Grant. Those two, along with Sarah Jane Smith, make the trifecta.
New series, I would go with Martha.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who will be saying that Donna is now one of my favorites. I'm really not sure who my fave is. I like a lost of them but well actually Hanks list works for me, I might add in Ace cause she had explosives or Leela cause she was pretty awesome or Jamie cause he was hot and hilariously stupid. I wouldn't add in Rose because while she was fairly good to begin with I got really really sick of her by the end, I was impressed with Donna though and that surprised me, cause while I watch the new show I don't really tend to get impressed by it anything in it past the first season.

If we're talking people who performed with them, I am gonna pick Phil Collins, cause when he dressed up as uncle Ernie on stage and chased Roger around trying to molest him it was awesome! No one knew he was going to come out like that and you could tell by Rogers face.

Perri (Nicola Bryant), because of her affinity with the bikini.

Donna is probably my all-time favorite. Completely different from everyone else and has the most tragic exit.

I'm surprised to see so many Donna fans. I'm indifferent to her. That may have a lot to do with her first appearcne though, where I found her irritating. I never liked Ace, but I'm admittedly not a fan of the McCoy era. Jo was special. The episode where she leave the Doctor, especially the last five minutes is very emotional. Watching the Doctor let her go, realizing that she'd found someone with whome she could spend her life was touching. It was a brilliantly acted scene. One of the best final episodes with a companion ever. The whole Pertwee era had some great companions from the gang at Unit, to Liz Shaw(who was a breathe of fresh air). Who has had such an array of companions, some good, some great, and yes, some truly awful(insert Mathew Waterhouse)

The second Doctor's popularirty, and that of his companions suffers because so many of his classic episodes are lost. Also, for those of us who discovered Who on public T.V, they never showed any of his episodes, and as a result, he doesn't have the same fan base as say Tom Baker
