I din't know much about this, but just got a whoesale UK new release list that shows an Asia 6 cd live box with a $14.99 wholesale.

Here's everything i know:

I'm almost sure these are the crappy bootlegs that have been repackaged to death. Most are appalling in sound quality and all are unauthorized.
There are some official bootlegs the band authorized from the 2008 tour but I highly doubt it is these. If you give me dates and locations I can confirm this for you.

Is this the real Asia (original lineup) or the Geoff Downes/John Payne version?

If it was 2008, it was probably the original line-up, although, John Payne & Co., after releasing one album as GPS, are now recording and, I believe, will soon be touring as "Asia featuring John Payne". I think I saw on Pause & Play that they have an EP called "Military Man" coming out (or already out) which is basically a collection of self-covers of Downes/Payne-era tunes. (Which is kind of funny given the Downes/Payne-era practice of releasing anthologies with Downes/Payne covers of Downes/Wetton-era songs.)

At any rate, after many years of skepticism, I came to really like the Downes/Payne Asia and was sorta disappointed when the original line-up reformed. I saw the original line-up in concert in 2006, and, to me, they were just all right. I'd missed a chance in 2005 to see Downes/Payne Asia play in Chicago, and I keep kicking myself because I thought "Silent Nation" was one of the best albums either version of Asia had released.
