An amazing year for remasters continues with this very cool news (hope they do the whole catalogue)!!!
And, these do have bonus tracks!

DEVO have signed a unique, ground-breaking worldwide partnership with their original label home Warner Bros. Records that exhibits the band's long-time commitment to innovation in all aspects of their career. In the '80s, the band put the "new" in the music revolution labeled "New Wave" with their synergistic mix of electronic rock, unparalleled theatrical live shows, and self-directed, groundbreaking music-videos - creating a multi-media art assault that resonates in contemporary pop culture. Now DEVO continue to pioneer new territory by exclusively teaming with Warner Bros. Records to internationally service all aspects of the band's career, including recorded music, touring, merchandising, web services, promotion, ecommerce, sponsorships, licensing, and endorsements.

"Devo have been called everything from geniuses to deviants and have always been ahead of their time," says Elyse Rogers, SVP of Touring and Artist Development at WBR. "They are brilliant multi-media innovators who express themselves through far more than just recorded music. Their videos, live shows, merchandise, and visual attack are as big a part of their art as the music is. We could not be more excited to continue to break new artistic ground with them while working to redefine the evolving music-industry paradigm."

"We are excited to embark on DEVO's latest sonic subversion with the label that first unleashed us on the unsuspecting public," says the band's Gerald Casale. "De-evolution is real!" Adds Mark Mothersbaugh: "We wouldn't be doing it if it weren't in our genes!"

Warner Bros. Records released six of DEVO's classic albums between the years of 1978 and 1984. To mark the band's new deal, the label will reissue deluxe CD and limited-edition coloredvinyl versions of DEVO's 1978's gold debut Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! and 1980's platinum favorite Freedom of Choice, as well as a seven-inch vinyl single of "Jocko Homo/Mongoloid" on November 3rd.

Wonder what will be on the CDs... I know a lot of the die-hards just finished shelling out for the Japanese mini-LP box set.

Not only are they jumping over my favorite album Duty Now for the Future, but they are playing both of these albums in back to back shows.
Wish Duty Now was included.

I am one of them.I doubt that the packaging on the WB releases will come close to the Japanese set.I would bet the same for the mastering.Rhino Handmade released a Limited Edition set of outtakes called "Recombo DNA" that I am sure Warner will pillage to beef up these new sets. They might even use the Handmade release of the Promo only DEVO Live set as a bonus disc.

I have the Devo Japanese box set and LOVE IT! Great remastering, mini-sleeve packaging and overall excellent presentation to such a cool goup. I do have interest to see what is released as Deluxe editions (can't get enough of Devo being a Spud boy). :}

Got this from a posting on the New Wave Outpost Message Board. Seems damn disappointing as far as the bonus tracks go. Live tracks-who cares? And, I believe Mr. Fuse might be right about the DEVO Live set nbing included-not sure.
Anyway, looks like a blown opportunity if this is accurate. Boo hiss.

Q: Are We Not Men?... contains original 11 tracks plus 11 live tracks (it's not clear when/where the live material was recorded, but it appears to be the entire album in order):

•Uncontrollable Urge
•[I Can't Get No] Satisfaction
•Praying Hands
•Space Junk
•Mongoloid
•Jocko Homo
•Too Much Paranoias

•Sloppy [I Saw My Baby Gettin']

Wow - the "Freedom Of Choice" bonus tracks look to be the original "Devo Live" EP.

Depending on the source(s) for the first album's bonus tracks, that might be interesting.

There are quite a few bootlegs to loot from the first album tour. Most are from FM broadcasts. One that comes to mind is from the Old Waldorf in San Francisco.I remember going to see them live at the old Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park (tickets were 4 bucks!).I believe it aired on WNEW-FM.I would buy it just for that.

These are coming out on Tuesday as single disc Deluxe Editions. The bonus live cuts on Question? are listed as from the The London HMV Forum but there is no info on where the live tracks are from on Freedom Of Choice.

I believe I read the live cuts were recent recordings (I know they are on Q:Are We Not Men?), making the bonus tracks totally lame.
I did find this out from the New Wave Outpost Board:

There will be an exclusive 3 disc version of Are We Not Men only available from Club Devo with a DVD of the live performance, which will also be on iTunes.

Again, I believe the live performance is recent in London.

I think "Are We Not Men" has recently recorded bonus tracks and "Freedom of Choice" includes the original "Devo Live" mini album.

The Devo Live album has already been re-issued by Rhino Handmade in an expanded edition comprising both the original mini-album and the entire concert from where the tracks were taken. Apparently it's still available directly from Rhino Handmade at the original price of $19.98...

Yes, and the same expanded edition comes in the 7 disc Japanese box set.

I got them both today. The Question? live tracks are from 2008 and the live tracks on FOC are indeed the Devo Live EP tracks.I have not compared the mastering to the Japanese box yet, but I threw FOC on my Infinity car stereo and it sounded pretty good.

I too just got the Freedom Of Choice remaster. I just did a quick A-B comparison between the Japan mini-LP and US remaster. It's very close! The Japan mini-LP seems to have a tad more midrange and actually sounds a little more aggressive than the US remaster, but both sound excellent.

Cool! I hadn't yet bought the remasters so I just preordered one of these. Came out to ~$63 w/tax + shipping.

I'm happy with the Japanese box and I just ordered the new "Q: Are We..." remaster for the live tracks so I'll probably skip this. Nice set, though!

Have any of these been released already (like on the Hardcore comps or Recombo DNA)? These would seem to be the main motivation for buying this monster...

All but one of these have been issued elsewhere, so it's not really anything special and the DVD of videos is puny to say the least.

Do you know where they're from?

(This looks really nice, but I am strongly leaning towards not getting it.)
