Any info on how these were remastered (are they likely to be loud as hell)? EMI's web page was not useful, couldn't even find a press release. I have Now We Are Six on vinyl and really like the sound, if these sound as good I'm sold.

I don't know anything about the remastering, but I can vouch for the quality of the material. These records show the progression of Steeleye from a pure folk band into a folk rock outfit, losing none of the passion and drive of the original group, and ending up on "....Hat" sounding as much rock as folk.
There is great playing all around, Maddy Prior at her peak, and wonderful originals as well as the traditional material. "Commoners Crown" is my favorite album of theirs, and one of my favorites overall from anyone.
This is a wonderful set from a great band that continues to record and perform regularly to this day.

Agreed. Peter Sellars plays ukele on the last track "New York Girls" and mutters that strange aside at the end of the record, something like "I say Sir are you a Matalef ?...Careful Sir we're on board ship"

Parcel of Rogues is the other one I've got, more trad folk though.

If they used the same tape sources as BGO they should be good.

My favorite of these is the first, "Below the Salt." First one of theirs I ever heard, and still the one where I love pretty much every song on it.

I think you'll enjoy them.
Without getting at all technical, I believe they did a nice job with the remastering.
Check out the new album, "Cogs, Wheels, and Lovers", if you haven't already done so.
It stands with nearly anything they've ever done.
