Deluxe Edition?

Could be, but there has been talk on the AC/DC fanclub site of a collection of live performances. One member had met Malcolm Young who told him of the live collection that he said was set for October.

I'm fairly sure AC/DC still have a clause in their contract stating no greatest hits albums ever. I think Metallica have the same, but I'm not sure there.

AC/DC's Family Jewels DVD set amounts to a video greatest hits, so I don't know what the hang-up is with a CD version. At least we can burn our own.

Now I'm wondering about the Black Ice "Deluxe Edition". AC/DC don't seem to be the type to screw their fans with new bonus tracks not available separately.

This is very unofficial, and someone translated it roughly from its original Spanish, but here's what's being talked about on acdc.com - it was also apparently mentioned on Classic Rock magazine's website:

Who put this one together, Gene Simmons?

I don't get the impression that this deluxe edition is an expanded reissue, although I could be wrong. Black Ice was originally released in a "Standard Edition" (cardboard digipack w/ the band's logo in Red, White, or Yellow ink) and a "Limited Edition" Deluxe Version. The track list is the same on both versions - the difference is in the packaging. The Deluxe Edition has a little sturdier packaging (a "hardshell" digipack with the band's logo in blue), and includes a 30-page booklet. It (the deluxe edition) isn't really worth the extra dollars, IMO - I just happened to find a used copy that was too cheap to pass up.

Presuming we have all the AC/DC CDs, of which some of us do not.

Maybe I'll buy one on my next "Jimbo Lunch New England Style!"

The "Super Deluxe" (and super expensive!) edition described by DanO a few posts up is only going to be available directly from AC/DC's website, but there's also going to be a pared-down, non-limited release which I've added pre-order details for to Jamie's opening post in this thread. (The non-limited release might be an Amazon exclusive, but that's not yet been finalised.)

The super deluxe version is $225 US funds, fortunately the tracks I am after are on the cheaper set.

This "cheaper" set is actually pretty damn good-I'm definitely in for this provided the price is reasonable.

The release of the rare Australian tracks and European b-sides is long overdue. Several of these songs are flat out better than the songs that were put on the American releases.

The musictoday ac/dc shop is listing the 2cd/1dvd set at $33.99. Of course shipping will likely be $15.00.

Sticking a Vinyl LP in "Super Deluxe Editions" is becoming very annoying.Call me a Luddite, but I would rather see a DVD-A or BluRay as an extra.At least Tom Petty covered both ends of the Audiophile spectum.

Man I would really like that Super-Duper deluxe version but $225, holy crap. Just lost me.

And is it just me or does the box resemble the Jimi Hendrix "Marshall Amp" singles box that came out a couple of years ago. I have the first edition of that and it is very cool and sounds great, btw. But it really looks a lot like it, but I am sure based on the content bigger all around. Still cool though. Another damn can get.

Just like others here, will have to setttle for the "cheepie" version. Man, our addictions to music is way more expensive than drugs or booze, but way more fun.

Got a copy of the pared-down 2-CD+DVD version today at 'Rama. At 1/10th the cost of the superduper deluxe version, it will suffice. Book includes nicely detailed info about where the tracks first appeared.

There will be uploads galore of the super deluxe version...I gar-on-tee.

I'm with you. Tired of these super-deluxe versions packed with a few bonus tracks and a load of stuff I don't want or need.
