For some reason I thought this was going to be a JLA/JSA movie, and that sounded pretty cool. Instead, it's a JLA/Crime Syndicate movie.

Quote:
An original story from award-winning animation/comics writer Dwayne
McDuffie (Justice League) rooted in DC Comics’ popular canon of
“Crisis” stories.

Bruce Timm (Superman Doomsday, Green Lantern) is executive producer.
Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman, Green Lantern) and Sam Liu
(Superman/Batman: Public Enemies) are co-directors.

In Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, a “good” Lex Luthor arrives
from an alternate universe to recruit the Justice League to help save
his Earth from the Crime Syndicate, a gang of villainous characters
with virtually identical super powers to the Justice League. What
ensues is the ultimate battle of good versus evil in a war that
threatens both planets and, through a diabolical plan launched by
Owlman, puts the balance of all existence in peril.

It's Timm and McDuffie, and the voice cast is quite good, but it seems like we already saw this story done in Justice League (the cartoon), so revisiting it seems a little boring.

We did, but I have no problem with it. I like reading the seventeen millionth Joker story.

It'll depend on how cool the animation is-- they should have used the story from Morrisson/Quitely Earth 2 GN. That was a pretty cool little book.

I'll get this. "Mirror Universe" stories are among my favorites.

Yeah, i'm of this mind too. We saw the same story recently in the Batman: BRave and Bold series too, with a "good" Joker and Owlman crossing over.

I'm catching up after over a week off line.
This is all new to me. Pretty cool!

Over on the CBR or Newsarama board
replying to this announcement a staunch defender of credit where it is due
stated that Morrison and Quitely better be mentioned in the credits.
Isn't that cute?
At least his heart is in the right place.

I greatly enjoyed those Brave and Bold episodes with Owlman and Redhood.

Not much conflict there, though.

It would have been nice if Good Luthor had instead landed on Earth-JSA,
and we had the Justice Society vs. the "Evil" Justice League.

Seriously, that would have been an even better story.

That kind of "misunderstanding fight" is what made Marvel great, not DC... but it's not a bad idea.

This comes out next month, Feb 23. I've enjoyed the direct-to-video movies in the past (particularly the Wonder Woman and Green Lantern films). This looks fun. It looks like an amalgamation of most of the Crime Syndicate stories pre-and-posts 1986.

Like all these recent DC releases, I'm looking forward to it. If Marvel made more movies like those "Hulk vs." ones that came out last year I'd be pretty happy too.

The "Hulk Vs" movies actually left me kinda cold. In both of them, Banner was reduced to this simpering wimpy guy who I just couldn't get behind. The animation quality was superb, but everything else was blah. I think if Marvel made an animated mini-series based upon the original Secret Wars comic from the 80's, people would rave about it. They could air it as a special event on some cable network, and have it available to rent online and then put out the home video.
