When I was a kid, some of the earliest exposure to classic Avengers stories I got came in the pages of Marvel Triple Action.

Now that I'm grown up, I continue to marvel at triple action.

This was the original post, but I thought that the memories of Batman & Robin the Movie were bad enough...

I wonder how a reprint comic like this would do on the stands these days. Trades are doing well, Essentials are doing well. Could a regular reprint ala Triple Action or Marvel Tales or Classic X-Men do okay?

What if they did a triple-sized "Marvel Classics" on cheap newsprint, combining three reprint comics from, say, the late 1970s onward, and shoved them out there for $4 a pop? A six-month novelty destined to die (especially with Essentials available), or something worthwhile to rope in fans Jonesing for old school comics?

Spider-Man had one of those awhile back, it may still, something like "Spider-Man Family" or some such, it had a reprint of Arana, Spider-Man 2099, and maybe something else, can't remember.

Didn't they try that a while back? I remember one thick book that reprinted the Byrne runs on FF& Hulk, Millers Daredevil, and Layton's Iron Man.

All popular runs (except maybe Hulk) and the series died.

*Dreadful cover art*

Horrible cover art (or maybe just a bad scan).

Could be a factor.

I have this one!

I read it on a recent visit to my parents' place too, and was struck by how much it blew away, I thought then, the regular Avengers issue it woulda been purchased with. But now I'm double checking and it looks like that would've been this...

...which is pretty great too, no? So now I'm not sure. Anyway, it must've been a good time for Avengers fans.

Just like, you know, today...

Triple Action was an awesome book!

Now, I'd think of it as a porn title....

I loved it, and didn't realize it wasn't originals until I had about 5 or 6 issues. I was slow back then. Now I'm just stopped.
