Here are the details from the bowie.net website (thanks to Ralph for the original heads-up on this):

It is with much pleasure that we can exclusively reveal details of the upcoming four disc special edition of the Station To Station album, originally released on RCA in January 1976.

Due in the first half of 2010 (we've learnt our lesson about giving exact dates this far in advance) the package will contain the following...

Station To Station Special Edition

Disc 1
CD = Original stereo Station To Station album
Disc 2
DVD = 5.1 Station To Station surround sound mix and original stereo album. 5.1 - Mixed by Harry Maslin.
Discs 3 & 4
2 x CDs = Uniondale, Nassau Veteran's Memorial Coliseum March 23rd, 1976 - Mixed by Harry Maslin.

Live Nassau 1976 tracklisting

01 - Station To Station
02 - Suffragette City
03 - Fame
04 - Word On A Wing
05 - Stay
06 - Waiting For The Man
07 - Queen Bitch
08 - Life On Mars?
09 - Five Years
10 - Panic In Detroit (with most of drum solo edited out)
11 - Changes (with band Intro)
12 - TVC 15
13 - Diamond Dogs
14 - Rebel Rebel
15 - The Jean Genie

I know Nassau '76 has always been a popular show among Bowie fans, coming fourth as it did in our Bowie bootleg poll of last year. (04.26.2008 NEWS: VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE BOWIE BOOTLEG & 06.01.2008 NEWS: YOUR FAVOURITE BOWIE BOOTLEG POLL RESULTS)

The poll asked: "What other bootlegs would you like to see get the official treatment?". The Thin White Duke still came fourth even after I stipulated that it would be coming out anyway.

I guess what I'm trying to say in a roundabout way is that it's probably even more popular than our poll suggested. Either way, I for one can't wait to hear Harry's 5.1 mix of Station To Station and his mix of Live Nassau 1976.

The live show is being stretched over 2 CDs, and they're cutting out most of the drum solo? If they wanna do that, shouldn't they include BOTH an edited and a complete version, so we can decide if we want to be subjected to the solo?

Bowie's catalog is probably one of the worst right now. I don't think I've ever heard a CD that sounded good.

I'm in just to get an official Nassau. For anyone who hasn't heard Nassau, the guitarist is a relatively unknown named Stacey Hayden who's similar to Earl Slick but even heavier. Think S2S on serious steroids. The live versions of S2S & Stay are especially awesome. If you have the Ryko, the live tracks on that are this show.

Personally, I'd rather just buy Nassau then my 4th or 5th S2S purchase, but..... I agree cutting the solo sucks. While they're adding 4 tracks not on the 1 cd boots, I'm sure there's more then enough room on 2 cd's..........

In my experience, the sound will almost certainly be better then the awful Ryko's, but I wouldn't expect the mastering to be any better then the other expanded EMI's.

Fantastic news. I've been listening to incomplete recordings of this show for 15 years. Definitely #1 on my list of recordings I've wanted to see officially released.

it is kind of wierd that they skipped HD & Man Who Sold The World. HD is one of my all time favs.

I'd also like to see the complete Boston show (72?) that they used for the ep in the 1st edition of the Ryko box. I haven't even soon that one on boots.

I *knew* it! I knew they'd be too embarrassed by that drum solo to keep it. It had kitch value for how outrageously long it was. (Long enough for a bathroom break at the very least.)

But at least they're giving us
07 - Queen Bitch
08 - Life On Mars?
09 - Five Years
which the boots usually did not include.

Ryko said that was the only portion of the show that they found. Was it soundboard, or just an authorized (and therefore well-placed) audience recording?

There is a "stealth" audience recording of the whole show that had been shared in the past couple years, in similar quality. It was shared on Dime for a few hours until the mods pulled it due to the existence of the 3 tracks from the 1st edition of the Ryko Sound+Vision box set.

It was soundboard, I'm not an audie person. I didn't know that they had stated that was all they found, thanks!

I too am curious to hear the 5.1 mix to see if they pan the phased train sound 360º. Back when STS first came out, I had a Marantz Quad receiver. When you played stereo LPs using the 4-channel matrix decoding it would use the out of phase material to create a pseudo-quad effect. When playing STS through it, the phased train actually started at the right rear and panned to the right front, then left front and then back to the left rear. We'll see if they do anything similar in the 5.1 mix.

You should then check out the 5.1 DVD-A of Bowie's live "Stage" where the sound of that train encircles my living room with unbelieveably awesome presence! Play It Loud!!!

This has sorta dropped off the radar for a while, but according to the latest issue of Uncut (which has a feature about the album), it's still happening.

I'm thrilled it's coming, but not so thrilled about the 87 pound price with unnecessary vinyl on the deluxe. Curious as to exactly what the difference is between the "original analogue master" & the "1985 RCA CD master". At least they didn't feel the need to give us the "Ryko master' & "1999 EMI master"......!

I'm probably going to have to find a way to afford the big box & I'm not real happy about it.
