Brenda Lee. 8-) Little Miss Dynamite. Listen to her sing "Jambalaya" at age 11. She was a prodigy like Michael Jackson. I still don't have any Connie Francis in my collection, but I've got the movie "Where the Boys are" on good ol' VHS. :-D

Connie.

I like Brenda, but I think Connie was a better singer, more versatile, and generally made better records. She's got a lot of material out there.

I think Connie was the bestselling female vocalist of the 1950's. I wonder whether a Bear Family box might be in order here. Or should I start with a comp?

Robert, is the "My Happiness" song the one that Elvis recorded for his mother at Sun in '52-'53?

OK:
It's time for a wild story. When I owned my video store for 11 years I saw plenty of weirdos (we had a lottery machine and adult films so that helped). One day a guy who played the lottery came in and asked if I knew a lot about music.
I said yes.
He then told me that he had been hired by a doctor to clean out his massive 3 car garage and the guy never paid him so he stole a bunch of boxes marked valuable.
I said, OK, what was in the boxes?
Well, he mentioned several things like vases and some old books and jewelry and...
He had some old B&W photos.
I said, how old?
He said, probably from the late 50's or early 60's.
I said, do you have them? Were they just his family? If so, I'm not sure what you want me to tell you.
He said they were of Connie Francis.
I said, oh, were they of her in concert?
He said, definitely not.
Well, they were all privately taken nude photos of her from head to toe-in the doctor's office! And, she clearly posed for them! She looked to be about 20 or so. There were about 5 or 6 pictures and he asked if I thought they were worth anything. I tried to play it down and tell him no, and that if he wanted to just get rid of them, I'd take them off his hands, but he said he'd keep them just for the hell of it.
Damn!
They were fantastic pictures too. Wow. Some Rock n' Roll history for damn sure! I still rue the day I couldn't get at least one of those pictures. The guy was so strange who the hell knows what he did with them?
So, needless to say, my vote is for Connie Francis!
P.S.
They were absolutely her-she's from Jersey so it adds up, plus my Mom happened to be in the store and took a look and confirmed it was her. She also said my Dad would go nuts if he saw one of those!

I'm going to look for that song, Jimbo, great spirit! And Invisible Pedestrian, you did the right thing in playing it cool and feigning disinterest, but if you had hesitantly and casually offered him $100 he might have bitten the bait and you'd have made the memorabilia score of a lifetime.

Googa:
You're probably right, but I didn't want to offer him any $$$ since he was so odd, I thought my chances were better I might con him. I tell you, I would've sold those to Hugh Heffner right away. I don't believe that could've been stopped-you see old pictures stars had taken all the time that were from their pasts and were "unauthorized".
It's still something I'll never forget-those pictures were damn hot-and they were tasteful. Nothing filthy, just good 'ol nudity-what's wrong with that???
