For me it's Ike & Tina. Ike is funky and he knows his blues roots and he can rock as well, having writtten the first (or one of the first) rock'n'roll song, "Rocket 88". Tina did the right thing to leave Ike, but I've only got one solo album by her, and that's "Wildest Dreams", which was produced by the British genius, Trevor Horn.
I'm listening to a 10 CD Ike & Tina Turner retrospective box set, with tracks from across their career, but no Phil Spector tracks, from what I can see. It's a bare bones budget release, which could easily just have been 6 CD's, as there are only 12-13 tracks on each CD. I have not been able to find any information on this box on the web, but it only cost me appx. $17. Apart from the tracklisting and generic liner notes, there are no other notes, not even recording dates or years of release.

Ike and Tina. Solo Tina isn't bad, but Ike really brought something to the mix.

It was really Tina who brought something to the mix, since Ike was already a known act when the teenage Tina showed up (and that wasn't her name yet). What's wife-beating got to do, got to do, with it?

With Ike by a landslide (even if he was a jerk).

Emotionally, as husband and wife? That's a whole other story- - starring Angela Bassett and Larry Fishburne!

Although I'm not a big fan of her solo work, I think I might regret not seeing her on what will most likely be her final world tour.
