Yeah, now we're talking! I've been wondering if the back catalogue will get the treatment it deserves. I'm on the fence about seeing them July 11 in AC at House Of Blues-they're playing "Love" in it's entirety. "Love" is an amazing album that bridged Goth/Psychedelic/Hard Rock/Alt Rock. Anyone interested?

The wife and I own a slew of Love related stuff, UK and domestic CDs, vinyl, 12" remixes and even the Manor Session CDs. I don't think ther's anyhing on the second disc that we don't already own.

The wife and I are headed for the AC show Saturday night. Any tips on after show classic alternative dancing?

Cheers,

Michael

PS Ian did a typical Ian rant in the El Paso Times.

Michael:
Haddonfield? That's where I grew up and it's 5 minutes from where we live now in Cherry Hill. Don't know if I'm headed to AC or not for the show, and I'm also not clear on whether it's a "Love" show or not. If I do go, I'll have to find you somehow! Hell, I may even know you (and I think it's possible-this is Pete by the way of Pete and Nicole if that helps).
As for dancing, I find dancing nude to Falco at Taco Bells is always popular.

A 4 CD edition is due out in September.

Looks like a Canadian import.

It's being called the "Omnibus Edition", and it is a limited pressing:

Product Description
For nearly 25 years Love has been a consistent seller (over 3 million copies sold worldwide), endorsing it's classic status in The Cult's repertoire.

Designed to cater for the more committed fan, the Omnibus Edition is presented as a limited edition 4 disc box set with the CD's housed in Japanese-style paper sleeves, reproducing the original vinyl cover art. Along with the James Brown liner notes, the 48 page book features unseen contact sheets from the album photo session and a chronology of contemporaneous quotes by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy that illuminate the status of the band at that point in their career.

Apart from the re-mastered original album the box also includes the singles, the demos and a live recording from 1985.

Equal parts psychedelic hard rock and new-wave goth, the songs on Love emanate a bright guitar sheen, tight arrangements, crisp drumming and a command performance from vocalist Ian Astbury.

Thanks for digging out more details, Linda.

I found some info about disc 4 from the Beggars Archive web site.
http://archive.beggars.com/releases/4/the-cult-love-omnibus-edition

Disc 4 Track Listing (all tracks are live):
1. Love
2. Nirvana
3. Christians
4. Hollow Man
5. Big Neon Glitter
6. Brother Wolf; Sister Moon
7. Rain
8. Dreamtime
9. She Sells Sanctuary
10. Go West
11. Spiritwalker
12. Horse Nation
13. Phoenix

Recorded on the Love UK tour by the BBC on 31 October at Hammersmith Odeon, London, this thirteen song set featured songs from the newly released Love album alongside established favourites from their debut release Dreamtime and earlier Death Cult days.

Now this is the way classic albums should be fleshed out!

Gotta rave about this OMNIBUS release. It's gorgeous. Great booklet. Amazing attention to detail how they put all this together, down to each CD miniLP. Even including seperate clear sleeves for each CD to fit into each LP style case. Great price too (seems to have dropped to $25 everywhere). Wish more box sets were designed like this one.

There are 2 more boxes designed the same way. Both are release's from Bauhaus. "In The Flat Field" and "Mask".There may be others. The Beggars Banquet label calls their Deluxe Editions "Omnibus Editions".I agree that these are nice boxes, but the quality is not as good as a Japanese manufactured set.
