"Piero Umiliani's classic soundtrack to "SVEZIA, INFERNO E PARADISO" (Sweden, Heaven and Hell), directed by Luigi Scattini - the cult mondo movie from 1968 that purported to be a serious documentary about life in Sweden, but instead goes the way of the exploitation mondo shockumentary and concentrates on showing scenes of wife swapping, porno movies, lesbian nightclubs, biker gangs, Walpurgis Night celebrations and examining Sweden's drug, drinking and high suicide problems...

"Contains the great/silly track "Mah Na' Mah Na'" that was covered by the Muppets, becoming a classic in its own right!" -moviegrooves.com

This song is sung by the great Alessandro Alessandroni; he also did the surf guitar and whistling for all the 'spaghetti westerns', including "THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY", as well as leading the choir, Il Cantori Moderni (The Modern Singers).

Product Description
This soundtrack for the so-called „documentary" on the decay of morals in Sweden from 1968 is a long lost jewel of Easy Listening. Properly released for the first time ever it brings us 28 cute little songs called „Photo Models", „Topless Party" or „Beer , Vermouth & Gin" - plus the superhit „Mah Na’ Mah Na’" (as known from „Sesame Street" and many TV-ads). Oh yes - and the soundtrack also features Mr.Gato Barbieri on sax.

I know it's on this CD in the Archives (maybe on something else too). This also includes the original "Music Box Dancer" which is fairly HTF on CD.

I remember the Best One Hit Wonders..when it first came out but I didn't buy it.
"In The World Ever" that must be a Virgin comp. They usually attach that stupid bit at the end of the title.
There are some good songs on there, but I'd have to skip a few of those-

Don't Worry Be Happy - Boby McFerrin
Macarena - Los Bel Rio
Break My Stride - Matthew Wilder
Mambo No.5 (A Little Bit Of...) - Lou Basil
The One And Only - Chesney Hawkes
Mickey-Tony Basil
It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls

and the worst...
The Safety Dance - Men Without Hats.

I'm going to check out out the Svezia Inferno E Paradiso soundtrack. If it's even a shade like the sleazy loungecore of Vampyros Lesbos or Schulmadchen Report I'll buy it.

I would spare the following from your strike list:

"Break my Stride" - Matthew Wilder. Reminds me of the early '80s and my listening to Radio Luxemburg on my alarm clock radio, with the signal fading in and out.

"Mickey" - Tony Basil. I like cheerleaders.

"It's Raining men" - The Weather Girls. I bought the single of that one, and hallelujah for that.

I don't know any music by Chesney Hawkes.

I never realized "Mah Na Mah Na" went that far back. I always assumed it was a nonsense song made up by the people on Sesame Street. Who knew?

Well, obviously not me.

It pisses me off when I see "one-hit wonder" comps that have artists that aren't one-hit wonders.

2. I'll Be Ther For You - The Rembrandts
"That's Just The Way It Is (Baby)" "Johnny Have You Seen Her"

11. Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm - Crash Test Dummies
"Superman Song"

20. All By Myself - Eric Carmen
"Hungry Eyes" "Make Me Lose Control"

35. The Safety Dance - Men Without Hats
"Pop Goes The World"

You often also see "What I Like About You" by the Romantics, ignoring "Talking In Your Sleep."

30. Tarzan Boy - Baltimora

one of the great One Hit Wonders. I think I have it from a Ninja Turtles soundtrack?

Normally I'd agree, but the comp Googa posted about is a UK collection, and by their criteria, all of these acts qualify as one-hit wonders. Even Eric Carmen had just the one chart hit in the UK.

Of course, there are any number of big UK acts who are considered one-hit wonders in the US, including Madness and Gary Numan.

Yep, on the soundtrack for TMNT III. Oddly enough, it's also on the soundtrack for Chris Farley's Beverly Hills Ninja. What is it about "Tarzan Boy" and ninjas?

It was also used as a commercial for Listerine for many years. I think it was a hit before the Turtles movie but was then reactivated as happens so many times. Baltimora actually had a second, minor hit here in the States. I believe he later died of AIDS.

I still say Sherrif's nauseating "When I'm With You" is the most amazing one hit wonder ever. It was only a minor hit in 1983 (or 1982 I forget reaching something like #63-again I forget). Years after they broke up (some of the guys went on to minor one hit wonder Frozen Ghost), the song was re-released for no reason at all and went to #1 in 1989. Unbelievable.

Gotcha.

But you still see US comps like that!
