Yes! I have seen a screening of The Incredibles at Pixar and it is EXCELLENT! Probably the best Superhero film since Superman.

No spoilers here, but everyone who trusted Brad Bird to get it right should not feel cheated when they see the final product.

Great movie! One of the best superhero movies ever made. It's too bad they can't do the FF movie like this. It's a fantastic homage to comic books with a lot of tips of the hat to many different superhero elements, especially the FF.

Highly recommended.

I've now seen it twice and loved it just as much on the second viewing. Action, heart, and family values. And Edna Mode. 'nuf said.

What can I say about this movie? IT. TOTALLY. F*CK*N'. R O C K S!!!!!!!

This movie goes right up to the top of my all-time great super-hero movies list, right along side of Superman: The Movie and Batman: The Movie. I don't know what else to say. ALL super-hero movies should be made this way. Hell, all James Bond movies should be made this way!!!!! Pixar's technology has improved by leaps and bounds with every film they've done and this one is no exception. Compare the humans in this movie to the ones in Toy Story and you'll see what I mean. I would LOVE to see a Pixar made Fantastic Four movie with the characters modeled on the Kirby/Sinnott versions!

It's just flat-out one of the best movies I've seen in a long time!

BTW, this is my 1000th post! YAY!!!!! :)

I agree, it's a terrific movie. It is NOT disrespectful or mocking the superhero genre, at all, and it made me very, very happy. Go see it.

I third the motion. Go see it. The humor comes from the situations, not the superhero elements.

Marketing did a poor job of passing off "The Incredibles" as a superhero parody, complete with a teaser trailer featuring Mr. Incredible struggling with a spandex outfit. This marketing is so far from the actual movie that it renders it completely misleading and useless.

See it! You won't be disappointed.

I'd like to see more, too, but somehow I think it'd be like the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command cartoon they did, which was annoying. Knowing Disney, since they'll always co-own this property (unless they allow Pixar to buy them out which I doubt will happen considering how much money that would be), they will try to put out an Incredibles 2 using the Disney 3D studio for home video and it will suck.

I will whet your appitite with news that when the DVD comes out, there is going to be a whole bunch of fun stuff including a couple of shorts. I've seen one and there is another I'm going to wait until it hits the shelves so I have some surprises next year.

Excellent movie...wow what fun. I agree that it was marketed badly...there is so much superhero goodness in this flic...heart, humor, family values, and action/adventure.

The scenes on the jungle island were so cool!

Brilliant...all superhero movies should be this good...!!!

What else has Brad Bird done? Iron giant right? anything else??

One of the best flics ive seen all year (the theatre was full - lots of oohs and aaahs and laughter).

Quick question - who voiced the Mirage character (the bad guy's white haired assistant girl)?? She sounded familiar but I could not place her....anyone know?

I saw it yesterday morning. Aside for around 15 or 20 minutes of it, I very much enjoyed the movie. (The 15 - 20 minutes I only muchly enjoyed.)

This was an amazing movie. I can't put in to words how much I enjoyed it. If you've ever loved super-heroes you will love this movie. Prior posts have it right...it doesn't mock super-heroes. The comedy comes from the situations. The super-hero adventure is played straight. I will buy the DVD and watch it every week for the rest of my life.

To answer the question what else has Brad Bird done - the first 160 episodes of The Simpsons.

Mike - are you serious? I did not know that...cool...so he worked on some of the better Simpsons episodes..makes sense..i guess he was a writer.

Now all I have to do is rent Iron Giant on DVD.

There's a new Iron Giant SE due out next week with a Brad Bird commentary and lots of deleted scenes amongst the extras.

It's well worth buying as The Iron Giant ain't the kind of movie you can only watch once!

Bird's most famous simpsons work and well worth checking out for an early glimpse at Incredibles type animation was the award winning computer animated Homer 'cubed' (3) from one of the treehouses of horror (season 6 maybe?). Brilliant stuff.

He was the Executive Consultant - whatever that means. He talks about how The Simpsons taught him how to take 40 minutes of material and turn it into 20 minutes of show.

He also had the same job for King of the Hill and The Critic.

The exact opposite of the Marvel Method, huh. :)
