Eagles tomorrow night! First time ever for me! Hope they play "Pretty Maids all in a Row"! This has got to be one of the finest albums of the '70s, I like it more than "Rumors":

Herr Evil, the DVD-Audio version of "Hotel California" is the definitive edition, as is the DVD-Audio version of "Rumours." I saw the Eagles live in Houston in 1995 for their "Hell Freezes Over" tour.

Back from the Eagles concert and I'm still soaring high on the experience. It was a Christmas present from my brother. He also surprised me with a tour T-shirt, I chose the one with the "Hotel California" album cover, as this to me is the epitome of West Coast '70s laidback cool. There were four Eagles on stage, and I should have done some homework, because I could only remember and recognize Don Henley and Joe Walsh, I'd forgotten the names Timothy B Schmidt and Glenn Frey. They were all in fine voice and all four got to sing leads, although Henley and Frey took the lion's share. Hit after hit after hit, but predictably, no "Pretty Maids all in a row" - too obscure, perhaps? They got the new songs out of the way first, and I didn't recognize them, having only played their latest for a day or two a long time ago. But I recognized most of the other songs, and my brother remarked during the concert that they had a really strong song catalog. One of the highlights for me was Henley's "Boys of Summer", I think that song is a masterpiece. Closer was Desperado. I think they played 2 hours on this their first concert of a 60-date European tour. I would like to ask Jon Tyler or any other drummer here if it is harder to sing and drum than to sing and play guitar or bass?

They sang "Pretty Maids..." when I saw them, but no "Take It To The Limit" due to no Randy Meisner, which was the only disappointment for me.

Glad you enjoyed the show. I'm jealous! I was lucky to see them way back on the Hotel California tour with Jimmy Buffet opening. Great, great show. Tonight I get to see an all-time great act that I've never seen live: Fleetwood Mac!

renny,
The Eagles sang "Take it Easy", and earlier this month, I saw Jackson Browne perform it too! I wonder if it is a Jackson Browne original, will have to check. "One of These Nights" is one of my absolute favorite Eagles songs, great album too.

I think the Mac might come to Europe soon, though.

both jackson browne's first album (not actually called 'saturate before using", but simply "jackson browne") and the eagles first album came out in '72, i've no idea which one was first (jimbo usually knows these things)

The Eagles version hit #12. I think Jimbo and I could go on Rock & Roll Jeopardy and slaughter any comers when it comes to the charts by the way-I know I live and breathe are this useless crap! Googa: Glad you enjoyed the concert-I thought they were boring as hell when I saw them in 2003, but they played and sang perfectly-perhaps that was my problem. They do play a long set though-I'll give 'em that!

BTW in addition to the four Eagles on stage there were a number of musicians, maybe ten or so additional musicians. It was a very professional concert, as Invisible Pedestrian wrote, note perfect, and I like that sometimes. Not all rock as to be raw and raucous. Eagles are good at ballads and mid-tempo songs, and that is what you'll get at their concert. Eagles tix are expensive here too, but they are worth every penny.

I saw them on the "Hell Freezes Over" tour in Cleveland, at the old football stadium before it was torn down. Third row seats, right in front of Joe Walsh !! Opening act was a (then) little-known Sheryl Crow. I remember it rained in a sudden cloudburst mid-show, which caused a short delay (and an impromptu wet t-shirt contest in the audience), so the Eagles announced upon resuming the show that they would play extra long. It was great, you should have been there, Renny !!

I had an echo problem when I saw Dolly Parton at Malmö Stadium, but then when I saw Eagles there I sat at the back and that eliminated the echo problem.

Okay, I didn't see Johnny Winter. Have to save money for July, which is usually my biggest concert month of the year.
