You know that's because the "idealized versions" aren't even made out of food, don't you?

I remember a fun TV special a couple decades ago that focused on TV commercial food
preparation. It has stayed vividly in my mind: things like they added dish soap to a hot
cup of coffee to get a few frothy bubbles on the edge, used Elmer's glue to drop a few
"milk" splashes onto cereal flakes, etc... I forget what TV ice cream was made of, but it
had to be able to handle being under the hot lights for tens of minutes whatever it was.

BUT... I thought I had read a few years ago that truth in advertising laws now demanded
that commercials use real food. A recall another special where commercial makers were
looking through dozens and dozens of buns looking for exactly the right one--and then
they added seeds to it from another bun.

Does that really stop any of us from eating any fast food?

Put some TV star's picture in the left column and my picture right column.   Same thing.

Me too, who cares what it looks like, it all goes down the same way. So long as it tastes good.

A comment from one of people at that link:

Apparently, they don't care either.

I believe they have to use real food, but can get away with doctoring it up to a point--for instance putting on Vaseline to make some items look temptingly moist.

I say that I've seen worse because I've gotten the burger where the meat is halfway off the bun, with the pickles hanging off of the other side of the bun, and the ketchup and mustard covering the remaining corners.... five fries in the bag, clear carbonated water in place of Coke, etc. I've taken a couple of photos and e-mailed them in, no free food as of yet.
