Detective Comics (Grant/Wagner/Breyfogle)- Following a critically acclaimed run by others can be daunting, but these guys rose to the challenge. Initially along with his writing partner, John Wagner, Alan Grant teamed with new artist Norm Breyfogle to create a singular look and feel for the Darknight Detective. They were so successful that they were eventually moved to the higher-profile Batman book, then had a new book created just for them; Shadow of the Bat. This, however, is where it all started.

Superman (Byrne)- When DC decided to give Superman a major update, they turned to the hottest name in comics at the time, writer/artist John Byrne. By first rebooting the character in the Man of Steel miniseries, then working on both Action Comics and a new Superman title, Byrne breathed new life into the character and laid the foundation for a successful Superman line of comics for many years to come.
