It is with great sadness that we must report the passing of Reg Isidore, The Robin Trower Band’s drummer on the first two, seminal albums.
John Waters writes: “I got a call from Reg’s wife on Sunday morning, 22 March 2009, which just happens to be ‘Mothers’ Day’ here in the UK, to say that Reg had passed away earlier that morning after suffering a heart attack " .
This is devastating news for Reg’s family and friends. Suffice to say, the thoughts and prayers of Trower fans all over the world are with them at this moment in time.
John adds "I had the very great honour of meeting Reg for the first time last summer and struck up an immediate friendship with him and family members including his brother and fellow musical collaborator, guitarist Gus Isidore.”
Reg was the proud father of four children, Monique, Mandy, Jason and his eldest son, Tony and grandfather to five grandchildren, Jordan, London, Preston, Jackson and Halle. He loved them all dearly.
“Reg was great company,” says John. “Very much the life and soul of the party, someone who always had a smile on his face, enjoyed telling jokes and stories. In the short of time I got to know him, he was a wonderful, kind man who had time for anyone. He will be sorely missed by his family. Indeed, they had been preparing a special party in early April to celebrate Reg’s 60th birthday.”
