This guy's got these little Japanese Spidey statues. Buy It Now for $30 or Best Offer, Free Shipping.

I put in an offer for $20 and the guy accepts. I go to pay and he tacks on $9 in shipping fees.

Nice try, douche.

I won't pay it.

If it says Free Shipping, then he should give you free shipping. Else report him to eBay.

Yes. Report him. A Buy It Now is NOT a license to change the deal. As a seller you are allowed to do a counter offer, but if that's not what he did that guy should go blank himself. Report him.

Can you link to the auction, please?

Bottom of the page is a "report this item" button. However, you may have to go through another channel.

Did you write him to complain yet? That should be your first step. Present it as if it must be an oversight. "Hey, would you mind sending me a revised invoice when you get a chance? The invoice you sent me accidentally included a shipping charge, and this was a free shipping item. Thanks!"

Do that first. See how he reacts. You're calling him on it, but in a way that gives him an out and allows him to say "oops" with grace. Give him a chance to openly screw you.

Right, that's what I did. We'll see what his next move is.

His feedback leaves a bit to be desired. Not TERRIBLE, but quite a bit of slow shipping commentary. I looked at the positives, and even some of them seemed to have slow shipping when you look at the difference between the sell date and the feedback date.

Anyway, good luck. If I have to hassle him with annoying email questions I will.

Where does it say free shipping?

I'm not calling you out or anything, Hanzo, I'm genuinely curious. I haven't bought anything on ebay in a few years, and pretty much always used the 'pay it now' option. Shipping was always added. Was it not supposed to be added, or is that specified somewhere here?

...at least, I think it was always added... Like I said, it's been a while :)

The chief reason I stopped purchasing anything on ebay was due to getting dinged with duty on the last item I bought. It was a used DVD set (one of the later seasons of Buffy: the Vampire Slayer) but because the seller re-sealed it, customs thought it was new. It wasn't a big deal, but just steered me away from it as a first choice.

Although I did manage to buy the New World Order Technocracy sourcebook for Mage: the Ascension before that, and that was the only thing I felt I really needed from it anyway

Right below the price in big orange letters, and in the big orange "FREE SHIPPING" badge attached to the picture, and at the bottom in big orange letters. :)

Orange letters?

Am I not seeing it because I'm not logged into my ebay account, maybe? I don't see any orange letters.

Or Eric is just sending me up. One or the other :D

Hmmmm. Maybe it's because you're surfing from Canada? 'Cause seriously, it's all over the page.

See, this is why Americans have such a bad rap worldwide.

No free shipping.

Hmmm. The "Free Shipping" markings did NOT show up for me either until I signed in.

Maybe Brotoro's Magic Forest has a Ugandan IP address or something.
