The Legion of Super-Heroes- A perennial mid-range seller, the popularity of this super-team reached new heights when Paul Levitz and Keith Giffen took over the book. Levitz fully embraced both the super-heroic and sci-fi aspects of the series while Giffen created a new and wildly unique vision of the future. Their five-issue epic, "The Great Darkness Saga," is still regarded as a classic and has been reprinted several times. When it comes to the Legion, the work of Levitz and Giffen is still the benchmark that new creators measure themselves against.

Shade the Changing Man- Pete Milligan's re-imagining of a 70's character created by Steve Ditko was a strange, psychedelic journey in which the main character went through several physical and mental transformations, all while exploring controversial subject matter. The book's content was one of the reasons for the creation of the Vertigo imprint. A cult classic through the 90s, there are currently plans to reprint the series in trade paperback.
