WHITESNAKE REISSUES 'SLIP' AND 'SLIDE' IN JUNE WITH EXTRAS:

Re-releases of Whitesnake's Slip Of The Tongue (20th anniversary) and Slide It In (25th anniversary) albums are now planned for second week of June 2009. Both are the combined CD / DVD type now favoured by EMI and come in nice digipaks. Goodies are listed below, and certainly the Slide It In release will be welcomed by collectors wanting the US mix. DVD content is also generous, with a mix of promos and live tracks. Both discs can be pre-ordered at dpas mailorder. Whitesnake's previous remastered editions are still available at dpas mailorder.

An expanded edition of their recent studio album Good To Be Bad is also planned. So if you've bought it twice, be prepared to cough up a third time.



Slide It In CD has: both US and UK mixes of all tracks plus one live song (20 tracks total). DVD has: Guilty Of Love, Slow An' Easy, Love Ain't No Stranger (all promos), Guilty Of Love (Donnington 1983), Love Ain't No Stranger (Live: Starkers In Tokyo), Give Me More Time (BBC TV Top Of The Pops 19/1/84), Love Ain't No Stranger (Live... In The Still Of The Night).



Slip Of The Tongue CD has: album plus Now You're Gone (US Remix), Fool For Your Loving (The Vai Voltage Mix), Slip Of The Tongue, Kittens Got Claws (Live At Donnington 1990) DVD has: Fool For Your Loving, Now You're Gone, The Deeper The Love (all promos), The Deeper The Love, Sailing Ships (Live: 'Starkers In Tokyo'), Judgement Day (Live... In The Still Of The Night), Slip Of The Tongue, Kittens Got Claws (Live At Donnington 1990)

Wow-truly awesome news as I was wondering if, for the 25th anniversary they'd finish the catalogue with these two (I guess they could also do Restless Heart since they're going to do Good To Be Bad which I never did get).
Great to hear both mixes (with different personnel) will be used for Slide It In. I've never had either of these two on CD, so this will complete my collection (until I get the new one-I'll wait for the new re-release). I still listen to the last remasters from a couple years back-I have Love Hunter in my car and they were so well done.
I doubt these will get a US release as none of the others did, including the Whitesnake album from 1987!

According to a posting by David Coverdale on his official website: "...am happy to report that Universal, my new pals in the US have agreed to release the special anniversary editions this year to coincide with the tour...so, keep your eyes & ears open."

Good news to likely avoid paying $40 plus each (current price on amazon).

Bad news: the Slide It In remaster leaves off two of the UK mix tracks ("Hungry for Love" and "Love Ain't No Stranger") in favor of a b-side and a live track, also according to the official WS website. Rather annoying.

I just got an email from Amazon UK , they are offering a preorder of these 2 cd's for $17.74 USD each . They will be released on June 8th . That's cheaper than they would probably be when released in the U.S. . I'm going to order them tonight.

Does anyone know if the dvd's will be viewable in the USA ?

Thanks to Rick I went back to Best Buy and told them their 27.99 price for "Slide It In" was 14.99 on the website, and they fixed it. In fact, they said it came up as 14.99 anyway. I also used my $5 Rewards Zone coupon and ended up with this CD/DVD combo for 9.69 or something. Awesome!
Now, I need to get "Slip Of The Tongue" and that will complete all of the Whitesnake remasters (the old albums really were well done and are the best musically).
So, if you don't have this yet-14.99 is a killer price-don't know how much longer that will be at Best Buy (it is also that price online).

Maybe not...my copy is completely fucked up. It crackles and hisses and makes bizarre buzzing noises. Damn, I can get a piece of shit like that from Limewire or worse for free!
Needless to say I'm taking it back in hopes that it is obviously defective. Anyone have any problems like this? It doesn't really get bad until about Track 10 or so.

And yet again I get another distorted, fucked up copy of this from Best Buy. Of course I waited in the parking lot and listened a bit before driving off, but after one song it was back. Annoying, hissiy, fluttering, buzzy noises which sound like audio scratches. It's completely unlistenable. Has anyone listened to this yet? It also sounds badly compressed, but I don't know if that's a factor or not.
I'm beyond pissed off at this point though!

Still awaiting delivery from Bestbuy.com. I'll let you know...

Mine came today from the BB website and there is no distortion. I'm up to track 15 right now and if anything changes I'll revise the post. This might be a silly question, but have you tried the disc(s) on more than one CD player? On rare occassions I've had a disc that just seemed somehow incompatible with a certain CD player.

Right you are! It plays fine on my DVD-R and my CD player at home, but awful in my car. First time I've had this happen. But damn, this CD is really compressed-ridiculously loud, and the UK mix has horrible sounding drums. At least they did Cozy right on the US mix.

Hmm..both of the CDs of the "Slide It In" and "Slip Of The Tounge" DEs sound awesome,no distortion problems at all. I have yet to see the DVDs...
