I had no idea who she is, but the name Sophie in all its forms is always a grabber for me. I went over and checked the samples and I like it.She's Russian as well-I will be further exploring her music.Thanks

I always enjoy reading the reasons guys on here like/buy unknown female artists put forth with a picture like the one above. They are always a lock to give every reason except for the obvious one.

That's certainly true in my case.Since the obvious reason is obvious, I usually don't mention it and go directly to other reasons which may not be obvious.

Oh please! As a gay man, I've been a fan of female singers since I was a kid and heard Nancy Sinatra sing "These Boots Are Made For Walking". Incidentally, Sophie Milman has recorded 2 other very good albums, so it's not like she is unknown to me.

I'm not sure exactly how this got turned around, but my initial post was meant to be a sincere thank you for posting info regarding a previously unknown to me performer. As far as any other issues, well, OK.

:hijack:
My favorite female vocalists(rock era):
Petula Clark
Dusty Springfield
Nancy Sinatra
Sandie Shaw
Kylie
Lulu
Karen Carpenter
Mavis Staples
Emmylou
Maddy Prior

The obvious "obvious reason" can be found by those who are temporarily blinded by denial merely by looking at the cover art and seeing where the bottom of the album cover ends and what it is underscoring. The artist and/or her record company know what they are doing--sex sells and it always will. Hell, if I actually liked jazz I'D GIVE HER A TRY. I'm sure every guy on here has given an album a try by an unknown female artist based solely on her looks, hoping that it would be good and hey, she's hot, too. I know I have, I wish I could point out a specific example, but one eludes me as of right now. Well, wait: The Corrs. I had never heard of them, saw their debut album "Forgiven, Not Forgotten" in a Circuit City one day, took a chance on it and loved their music. My reply wasn't meant as an indictment of you Kid Bailey. It was pertinent in this Susan Boyle-age.

OT: I can't imagine spending much on a CD that I knew nothing about just because an attractive woman was on the cover... when "going blind" through dollar bins, I am much more influenced by song titles or other clues about the music.
