Thanks for passing this along. If he doesn't have it already, I bet Charlie Watts is going to pick up the Max Roach title.

Absolutely every one of those looks like a winner. Can't wait.

Just realized the Woody Herman should be the Bill Chase edition of the band. They were a powerhouse.

With the great Jake Hanna on drums - later with Merv Griffin's great tv band. Mosaic Select has a box with this Herman band. Awesome.

I'm hoping that at some point footage of Hank Mobley surfaces. I've never seen a clip of him playing live. Same with Kenny Dorham.

Hey Federico, thanks for the clip. Where's it from?
Dorham and Mobley together in the original Messengers w/Horace Silver and Art Blakey....
one of my all time favorites.

I can't tell you where it originally came from, I just did a quick search on youtube. Some of those posters lack the compulsive cataloguing/crediting compulsion that I appreciate. :p

Nice interview about the series. Including some talk about Hank Mobley! I'd post the text here but there's a lot of embedded video.

Thanks for the link! Glad someone's on the Mobley search - now I can stop whining ... or find something else to whine about. Like the almost complete lack of Grant Green footage. Youtube has just over a minute of live footage - that's it.

Update from Jazz icons site:

August 11, 2009- SERIES 4 Re-announced!
Wow! What a summer. This series has been the most challenging to put together, yet one of the most rewarding with new relationships at the BBC and INA in France. As you can see from the last entry we've had to make a change in the lineup. Due to circumstances beyond our control we've had to hold back Max Roach for another series. The Erroll Garner material is stellar and we feel, more than makes up for the loss of Roach. Also, the Coleman Hawkins DVD has significantly changed with the video restoration of the 1962 concert earning it a spot on the main DVD.

Here are the titles, coming out in October of 2009:

* Coleman Hawkins- Live in '62 & '64- (w/ Sweets Edison and Jo Jones)
* Art Blakey- Live in '65- (w/ Freddie Hubbard)
* Erroll Garner - Live in '63 & '64
* Jimmy Smith- Live in '69
* Woody Herman- Live in '64
* Anita O'Day- Live In '63 & '70
* Art Farmer- Live In '64- (w/ Jim Hall)
* Boxed Set featuring bonus performances, including a half-hour Coleman Hawkins concert from London in 1966, with Benny Carter and Louie Bellson.

More info coming very soon!
