Quiet Please... is the definitive career spinning best of from the British pop genius that makes all other collections obsolete. The 49-track compendium documents the development of one of popular musics greatest song crafters, from his pub rock days in Brinsley Schwarz and later Rockpile, to his now legendary solo career. Healthy doses of material from 20 different albums combine to make it clear why Lowe is credited by artists and critics alike with paving the way for punk as well as changing the face of pop music with albums like Jesus of Cool, Labour of Lust and At My Age.

The deluxe edition of this release includes a DVD of vintage original Lowe videos for tracks like "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass," "Cruel to Be Kind" and more as well as a full length solo concert filmed live in Belgium circa 2007.

I always get a big smile out of the video for "I Knew the Bride" when it turns up on VH1 Classic.

Got an early copy of this today at 'Rama. Real nice package--interesting liner notes, detailed discographal information. I'm gonna go straight to the DVD first.

I got mine in the mail today from YepRoc Records. This is a great looking set with 49 songs and the DVD. I listened to most of the first disc and am very happy. I agree with Jimbo that the liner notes from both Lowe and the producer of the disc are excellent. Also like Jimbo, I think I'll sample the DVD next. I really like the slow version of "Peace, Love, and Understanding" that Lowe does these days.

It's about time for a new compilation! Basher is one of the first cds I picked up. It is interesting that there are 10 tracks from Basher which are not included here...so I'll have to keep it as well.

OK - I had mixed feelings about getting this but since there is very little out there that I am interested in.

Since I have Mr Lowe covered on both vinyl and cd there is nothing really that I didn't already have - on the CD's.

However it is the DVD that makes this essential. Being 55 (almost 56) I really missed most of the MTV/music video craze. For me it was the very first time seeing any of these videos. They are great. Well worth the price of admission.

I think that a lot of the artists from that era would do well to release their videos, such as Dave Edmunds (he could clearly be seen in some of these videos), the Stray Cats, the Plasmatics, Cyndi Lauper, Duran Duran, Bette Midler (her one with Mr Jagger)...I could go on and on.

I think I have a Blondie video DVD somewhere. Does anyone know whether this product has already been released?

DanO, they actually mention the absence of "Switchboard Susan" (which is a personal fave) in that covers were excluded for this set so his songwriting can be the emphasis. It goes on to say they like to do another comp just on covers. Very nice set, played all weekend!
