This is strictly a rumor at this point, but with Universal launching the "Authorized Bootleg" series, I don't see why it couldn't happen. I'd rather have a vintage show from the seventies, but at least this isn't another rehash of Alive!http://www.kissonfire.net/Wednesday, March 4, 2009 "Authorized Bootleg" Released In May Rumor has it that Mercury Records will release a Kiss CD in the series "Authorized Bootleg" in late May. This is said to feature the show from Nashville Municipal Auditorium that was played February 9th 1988. I will get back with more details as soon as I get hold of this.

They should pick a couple of shows that have some songs that were rarely done live . I know "Love Gun" and "Rock And Roll All Nite" are classics and they will be on all KISS live releases but can't they shake things up a little . I would rather see a live compilation with "Strange Ways" , "Hard Times" , "Flaming Youth" and stuff like that.

Out of the three songs you mentioned, I think only "Flaming Youth" was ever performed live. In fact, it was performed live in early 1976 while the band was still wearing their Alive costumes.

I would love to see them release a live CD from the Hot In The Shade tour. The best of the non-makeup KISS tours, IMO.

According to "Kiss Alive Forever", "Hard Times" was never performed live; "Flaming Youth" was performed between March and July 1976, and "Strange Ways" was performed at a couple shows in January 1975.
Ace has performed "Strange Ways" and "Hard Times" on his solo tours.
The Authorized Bootleg series has a lot of potential - I'd love to see shows with rare performances, but also shows that represent the eras of the band that haven't been well represented with live releases - the Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent years, the pre-Alive years. I'd also like to see further Kissology releases, but for all the talk about a volume four a few months back, that seems to have gone off the radar.

I agree, Alan. There were rumors in the late '80s that Alive III was going to be released, but it didn't happen until after Eric Carr died. Of course, there was also a rumor in the '80s that KISS were going to do solo albums again, but that didn't happen either. I would love to see a KISS live CD for each tour from the seventies through the nineties.

Amen to that! I'd love a box set of a disc from every tour through 2001.
I don't know why they seem to have such a hard on for the Crazy Nights tour – that was their weakest tour (and album) of the 80s. A live album from the Lick It Up or Asylum tours would be just what the doctor ordered for me (actually, I wouldn't mind a disc from any of the 80s tours besides that one).

This is stupid-if there's a live bootleg from Nashville KISS should release it's the "Lick It Up" show from 1984 that was originally a KIng Biscuit show. I still have that on tape from the radio somewhere and it kicked ass. The "Crazy Nights" tour was poorly attended and poorly played. Why they continue to release anything from that era is a mystery, although it may be more the fact that they had so much official in the way of recordings from that tour.

It would seem that the tours from 1983-1986 weren't as well documented in terms of audio and video. But I agree with IP, I'd rather get some stuff from the mid-eighties. I think Asylum-era stuff would be more palatable without the femmy glam outfits visuals.

I have that show on tape too and it completely kicks. I've never been a big fan of VV's guitar playing but he shreds on this one. I wonder if VV's legal battles with them has them a little gun shy of putting anything else out from the CotN and LIU tours... At the least, I wish they'd put out an "Alive 1982-1994" of the best live stuff from the era. How can "War Machine," "Fits Like A Glove" and "No, No, No" not be on disc! They made a huge mistake by not making Alive III a double disc and including those tracks from the Revenge Tour. We also need Eric Carr's drum solo (w/ electric drums) from that era on disc. I remember them doing "Won't Get Fooled Again" as an encore on the Asylum Tour that I'd love to get on disc too.

"No, No, No" was not performed on the Revenge tour.

Hadn't thought of that as a reason for withholding releases from that era, but I assumed that their issues w/Ace & Peter were a major part of the reason that the Ace/Peter cuts seem to be the ones missing most often from Kissology, especially the bonus discs. I wonder if Gene has been taking advice from Sharon Osbourne. Alan

I came across this at KISS Asylum. Don't know how accurate or inaccurate it is, but it seemed worthy to be posted here since Universal hasn't released any official info about this release: http://kissasylum.com/Archives/News/200 ... tleg.shtmlNews Archive March 2009
Authorized "Bootleg" Coming? From: KissFaq.com Posted: March 10, 2009
Some sites are reporting the Universal will be releasing an "Authorized Bootleg" from Kiss on May 26, noting a show at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium from 1998. While Universal is apparently planning hard-rock/metal releases as part of their "Authorized Bootleg" series (Cinderlla being another act with a live archive set due), the details for any Kiss release are not fully known. What is known is that Kiss didn't perform at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium in 1998. The did play the Nashville Arena on Jan. 2, 1999, the final date of the US "Psycho Circus" tour. The last time they played that venue was on November 6, 1992. Eddie Kramer attended he show in preparation for the "Alive III" recordings later that month, taking notes about the set, and it was likely recorded for reference. The set included:
Creatures Of The Night Deuce I Just Wanna Unholy Heaven's On Fire Parasite Domino Watchin' You Hotter Than Hell Firehouse I Want You Forever War Machine Rock And Roll All Nite Lick It Up I Love It Loud Take It Off Cold Gin Detroit Rock City Shout It Out Loud God Gave Rock And Roll To You II Love Gun Star Spangled Banner However, according to the ever-useful "Kiss Alive Forever," the band also performed there in 1975 (Alive), 76 (Destroyer), 79, 83 (Creatures), 84 (Lick It Up), 85 (Animalize and Asluym tours), and 1988 (Crazy Nights), so any of those shows would make useful additions as official releases. It should be noted that the 1/11/84 show was definately recorded since it was broadcast on King Biscuit Flower Hour at the time in edited form. That show can be heard online at Wolfgang's Vault, but included:
Creatures Of The Night Detroit Rock City Cold Gin Fits Like A Glove Firehouse Gimme More War Machine Bass Solo I Love It Loud I Still Love You Drum Solo Young And Wasted Love Gun All Hell's Breakin' Loose Black Diamond Lick It Up Rock And Roll All Nite KissFAQ knows which he'd rather see released!

Why bother putting out any "Live" Kiss album, which will be surely overdubbed and tinkered with until calling it live will be a joke. Has this not always been the case with their live releases?
