The third album in four years from song interpreter extraordinaire Madeleine Peyroux, Bare Bones is both an extension of the currents of 2004's Careless Love and 2006's Half the Perfect World and a bold step into previously unexplored psychological terrain. Produced, like its two predecessors, by Larry Klein, this fluid and enthralling new work is Peyroux's most personal yet, hardly surprising considering she had a hand in writing each of the 11 songs, marking the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

Peyroux Goes 'Bare' On New Album

Vocalist Madeleine Peyroux teams with famed producer Larry Klein, Steely Dan's Walter Becker and Joe Henry on her new album, "Bare Bones," due March 10 from Rounder.

Becker and Klein co-wrote the title cut with Peyroux, while Henry and Klein worked with her on "Love and Treachery." The 11-song set also features a sole Peyroux-penned composition, "I Must Be Saved."

"I'm really happy that I got to write," says Peyroux, "It feels like a new segment, and it's great work. I'm surrounded by beautiful sounds, really honest musicians, really honest playing."

"Bare Bones" is the follow-up to 2006's "Half the Perfect World," which has sold 218,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and debuted at a career-best No. 33 on The Billboard 200.

iTunes adds a French version of "Our Lady of Pigalle" as a bonus track; it is also available at $0.99 as an a la carte purchase.

I'm on first listen at the moment. My initial impression is that this is her best album (& that's saying alot!!) , & likely so far the best release of 2009.

For fans of soft adult rock, & of Billie Holiday style vocals, this is a MUST OWN!!!!
