Ok, my wife virtually never reads comics. But she was feeling generous today and read all of the Road to Civil War stuff (Amazing , FF, and Illuminati) and Civil War #1 and the couple of comics that come after that.
Anyway, she thinks Iron Man (pro-reg) side is correct and that Spider-man should unmask (she doesn't know he did yet) . She bought JMS's arguments.
I was anti-unmasking and pro-Cap/anti-reg. (To her Cap and Iron Man are blank slates).
I am sooo ashamed.

Your wife is not nearly as jaded as you.

Probably should. Anyone who doensn't realize pete's being a tool, and Captain America is always right......
She's conflicted a bit on registartion because she also says even if they register the bad guys won't, and she doesn't get why Iron man switched sides.
But she thinks Pete was being whiny. It's angst damnit

The wife disagreed with you? Well! The rule of thumb says to not beat her with a stick fatter than your thumb.
Now you know (and know is half the battle).

I must admit, despite myself, that I am along for the ride.
Yeah, as my wife waffled back and forth, I did argue against whatever side she seemed to be leaning against at the time.

Yeah, I had the same problem. I told my wife that I was on Cap's side. She blinked, and said "I'm sorry, did you say you 'capsized'? What the hell are you talking about?"
The wife and I are very different people.

I had to trick my wife a little. I gave her all the parts broken up in small doses, and when she would get near the end, I would give her one or two more. Until she had read enough to get the story.
Unfortunately, she has now read a few issues and said "This really has nothing to do with this story" when I've given her a few crossovers, or "this just repeats what was in the other book."
Also, when I saw a Spider-man birthday cake advertized and said how cool it was and she said "Would you want something like that?" and not realizing she was joking/testing I said "Sure. That is really cool."
Then she said "You do know you are a grown man and not a little boy?"

Rob, you should be able to have whatever cake you like. Tell your wife I said it's okay.

Don't mention the Civil War. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right.
