Dexter is a brilliant show. Glad you are enjoying it.

The second season wraps up this coming Sunday in fact, andI must say that even though the new season was not based on one of the existing novels, it has actually turned out better than the first season if that's even possible.

So many twists and turns.

Just a fantastic show.

Once you finish up season one, you should be able to catch all of season two on Showtime on demand if you have it. If not, the few months wait until the dvd's shouldn't be too painful.

Congratulations on discovering this gem!

Dieing to see it ( no pun ).

I hear that CBS may run the first season in an edited fashion (if the strike continues).

I watched the first season then read the book. The book starts out similarly but is very different. I'm eagerly anticipating the second season's release to dvd.

I loved the first season and look forward very much to seeing the second when it hits the UK. Dexter is the best Anti-Hero ever in my book.

Love the show. I started watching it over the summer when I first heard about the show. Dexter has so much going for it -- fascinating premise, interesting characters, dark humor.

I've enjoyed the second season more than the first, and I really liked the first season. Quality additions to the cast and a season-long story that's one hell of a ride. Great stuff. Can't wait for Season 3.

I'm fascinated by the concept of the show, and I think Michael C. Hall is a frickin' genius...but alas, I don't get Showtime.

I also didn't know until reading this thread that the series is based on a series of novels. Interesting.

Glad to hear that Season 2 doesn't go downhill in quality! Frank you can rent the entire season like me and check it out. I have 2 more episodes to go in season 1. The show does have some great humor, and the writing and acting are all top notch. I love the banter between Dokes, Dexter and Masuka. Also Denise Crosby from ST:TNG shows up as a psycho nurse! :)

If you're interested in checking out the novels, start with Darkly Dreaming Dexter.

It's the first novel, and the primary source for season one, although they combined many elements from the second novel, Dearly Devoted Dexter, into the first season as well.

Wait till you hear a second opinion. Dexter its probably my favorite series today, and I just finished second season yesterday.

I liked the second season its a great show and worth to see it, but i didint had the same shock than in the first season. Everything its great: the characters, the surprises and cliffhangers but the story its not so round and perfect as in the frst season.

But still Dexter its a great show, if the first season was a 10 the second its a 8.

For me, possibly the best show on television right now, and destined to be considered classic TV. Even the opening credits are unbelievably good!

I've seen both seasons, and although the second season doesn't end with quite the sense of wrap up the first season did, it's still pretty logical.

First season 10/10 second season 9/10.

Bring on a third season!!!!

IAWTP.

Does anyone have any info regarding an encore run of season 2? I didn't start watching season 1 until the second had already begun.

Don't know. But as I said upthread, the episodes are available On Demand if you've got it.

I don't think I do. I'm not being charged for it anyway...

Just finished watching season 2 on DVD. WOW! Absolutely addictive.

I'm told that I have to wait until autumn for season 3 to be available, though. =(

I must admit that I'm not sure what they're going to do next.

Third season is a bit of a let-down.

Mild spoiler:
Spoiler: show
the season centers around Dexter's friendship with a prosecutor played by Jimmy Smit.

It's still enjoyable, but it doesn't come close to matching the tension of the first two seasons.

I loved every single episode, can't say a thing against any of them.

I have been struggling to maintain interest in season 3. I think I've watched 6 or 8 of them so far, but after the first two, it's just not living up to expectations.
