Justice to produce Red Hot Chili Peppers album – Tabloid Hell

Despite Red Hot Chili Peppers announcing they are on hiatus for the next year, The Sun is reporting they are already lining up new musical collaborators.

The paper reports that that French dance duo Justice will produce the band's next album.

Justice have not produced an album by any other artist other than themselves before, but The Sun is claiming that they have been enlisted by Anthony Keidis and co to man the mixing desk for the band's tenth studio album, which will be the follow-up to 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium'.

I finally got around to buying Stadium Arcadium today, and I love this record. I'm just a casual fan (hence waiting two years to buy it), but I'm really enjoying listening to it.

Red Hot Chili Peppers to end 'two-year hiatus' in October

Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to return to musical action after a two-year hiatus by hooking up to write new material in October.

Drummer Chad Smith said that the funk-rock outfit were preparing to end their break from action by starting work on a new album – although they haven't decided on a producer yet.

"That's the plan (to return then)," he told Billboard. "It'll be two years in September, so now we're ready. You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever – not in our band, anyway."

The sticksman added that the band hadn't outlined their specific plan for the new sessions, although he expected them to revert to their usual regime pretty quickly.

Smith said they would be likely to "do a lot of improvising and jamming and songs will come out of that. That's what we usually do. I don't know why it would be different".

Red Hot Chili Peppers' last album release was 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium'.

Red Hot Chili Peppers announce new album plans

Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced plans for their new album.

The band, who are currently working on a follow-up to 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium', have revealed that a new album could be released by October 2010.

"We're gonna write for a while, it usually takes us a while," drummer Chad Smith told Clash Magazine , before speculating that a release date for the album would be "sometime next year, maybe this time [next year]".

Also asked if Flea's experience working with Thom Yorke might affect the band's new material, Smith said the bassist had given him a CD of electronic beats to inspire him but that, at the moment, there wasn't an explicit electronic direction.

"You never know. We've got songs with piano on them right now," he added.

John Frusciante leaves Red Hot Chili Peppers?

Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist John Frusciante has left the band, according reports.

Frusciante is said to have already been replaced by Josh Klinghoffer, states Musicradar.com.

Klinghoffer toured with Red Hot Chili Peppers, still featuring Frusciante, in 2007.

"Josh Klinghoffer has been playing with the group for a couple of months now," a source close to the band explained. "Optimistically, the Peppers are trying to lock down a replacement for John, who has apparently quit.

"Mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He's interested in doing his own thing, his own albums - the whole big rock band machinery just doesn't appeal to him anymore."

As a session guitarist, Klinghoffer has worked with artists including Perry Farrell, Tricky, PJ Harvey, Neon Neon and Gnarls Barkley. He also played with Frusciante on several of the guitarist's solo projects.

No Frusciante...no Peppers for me. One Hot Minute was a stone cold mess, IMO.

I'll check them out but without John, it's really not the same band anymore. I consider him the element that fueled their resurgence since the late 90's.

John Frusciante confirms he's left Red Hot Chili Peppers

John Frusciante has confirmed his departure from Red Hot Chili Peppers, revealing he actually quit the band over a year ago.

A source close to the band hinted Frusciante had left earlier this week, though the news hadn't been confirmed until now.

Blogging on JohnFrusciante.com, the guitarist said he did not fall out with his bandmates and remains on good terms with them.

"When I quit the band, over a year ago, we were on an indefinite hiatus," he wrote. "There was no drama or anger involved, and the other guys were very understanding. They are supportive of my doing whatever makes me happy and that goes both ways. To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction."

Frusciante added he "really love[s] the band and what we did", but now wants to make music on his own.

"Over the last 12 years, I have changed, as a person and artist, to such a degree that to do further work along the lines I did with the band would be to go against my own nature," he explained. "There was no choice involved in this decision. I simply have to be what I am, and have to do what I must do."

Red Hot Chili Peppers are rumoured to have replaced Frusciante with session guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

I will continue to buy John's solo work, however, and the new Peppers albums, if any.

I enjoyed One Hot Minute, but it doesn't compare to the Frusciante material.

Red Hot Chili Peppers unveil new guitarist during Neil Young cover - video

Red Hot Chili Peppers have made their first public performance with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

The band, featuring their new addition, covered Neil Young's 'A Man Needs A Maid' at the 2010 MusiCares Person Of The Year event in Los Angeles on January 29.

Watch video footage of the performance, which was being held in tribute to Young, by scrolling down now.

Klinghoffer has reportedly replaced John Frusciante full-time in the band, although no official announcement has been made regarding his appointment. Frusciante confirmed he had quit in December, saying that he actually left the band "over a year ago" because his musical ambitions had "changed". He added that he remains on good terms with his former bandmates.

Red Hot Chili Peppers to begin recording new album in July

Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith has revealed that they are due to begin recording their new album in July.

The group's tenth studio album, the as-yet untitled LP will be produced by Rick Rubin.

"We have a lot of material, probably about 20 songs," the drummer told MusicRadar.com. "Pre-production will take a few months, but I'd say by July we'll be laying down real tracks."

The follow-up to 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium', the album will be the first to feature new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who replaced John Frusciante, who left the group last year.

"We were sad to see John [Frusciante] leave the band but he has to do what he wants and follow his path." Smith admitted, adding that despite Frusciante's departure, that his replacement was a "natural fit".

"Josh [Klinghoffer] is a real creative force," he explained. "He's going to play guitar, he's going to write music, he's going to sing and play keyboards. We're all thrilled to have Josh be part of the group."

I was disappointed with Arcadium, so maybe Klinghoffer will kick them in the pants and return them to form.

While Stadium Arcadium isn't as good as most of their others, I find that I like it a little more with every listen (unlike One Hot Minute, which I haven't listened to in years). There are some good songs on there. They probably should have just released a single disc version of it and released the rest of the songs as downloads.

It wasn't as strong as previous albums, but it was still really good, IMO. I'm sorry to see Frusciante go but am eager to see what their new guitarist can do.

Red Hot Chili Peppers: 'We're halfway through our new album'

Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith has said that the band are "halfway through" finishing their new album.

The as-yet untitled studio effort will be the follow-up to 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium', and is being produced by Rick Rubin.

"We're probably halfway through the record," the drummer told MusicRadar.com. "I think we've tracked about 20 songs already, and there's a few more left to do. Then we'll whittle them down to make the best record."

"We always cut a lot of songs and see which ones rise and which ones fall - that's just how we like to work," he continued. "But the new one won't be a double album like 'Stadium Arcadium', I can tell you that."

As for a release date, Smith added that the group are hoping it will be out in spring next year.

"We'd like to try to deliver the album in March," he explained. "We're definitely hoping to have it out by next summer. It's been a long time in coming."

The group's 10th studio album will be the first to feature new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. He replaced John Frusciante, who left the group last year.

Meanwhile, Smith also revealed that the band already "have festival dates booked for the summer of 2011", although didn't go into detail about which events they were confirmed to appear at.
