Are the waffles Eggo waffles, like frozen waffles made in the toaster? Or do you have to use waffle batter and a waffle iron?

You can do both. Toaster waffles might be preferable, as homemade waffles tend to be a little softer and not as crisp. That bit of crispness is important to the overall aesthetic of the food. For instance, though Mrs. Taft regularly makes homemade waffles, waffles and ice cream are always eaten with Eggos.

Waffle iron seems like the only reasonable way, if you ask me.
