Detroiter J.J. Barnes, soul legend who works as a security guard apparently collapsed on stage on New Year's Eve. We've been told he had a minor stroke. J.J. is a Northern Soul legend immensely popular in the U.K. to this day. Detroiters may know his song "Chains of Love," which was covered by garage rockers The Dirtbombs. We've heard he's been released from the hospital, but details are sketchy.Thought I'd post to let his fans on the forum - or perhaps friends he may have met while performing - know so they can keep him in their thoughts. JJ, man, always the courtly gentleman, is a "Real Humdinger".
